The Ashanti Mampong Area of The Church of Pentecost has organised a massive clean-up exercise to give the Mampong municipality a facelift.
The exercise which was participated by members of the Mampong Intra-town districts (Pentecost International Worship Centre- Mampong, Tunsuom, Akyeremade and Adiemmra districts) helped to tidy up the principal streets of the municipality, the main lorry station and the forecourt of the King’s palace.
As part of the vision to possess the nations, the Area has set aside Saturdays (Dapaah) preceding the Akwasidae as a ‘Clean-up Campaign’ day. No funerals are organized in the municipality during Dapaah, hence the reason to use that day for such an exercise. The theme for the campaign is: “Environmental Care, My Responsibility.”
The Mamponghene’s Chief Linguist, Baffour Gyan, speaking on behalf of Daasebre Osei-Bonsu II (Mamponghene), congratulated The Church of Pentecost for embarking on a very good initiative.
He thanked the Area Head for his sterling leadership qualities and admonished the church members to be obedient and submissive to their leaders. The chiefs presented some assorted drinks to the Church.
The Mampong Area Head, Prophet Foster Kwasi Aniakwaa, who received the items on behalf of the Church, thanked the Mamponghene for his contribution to the development of Mampong and his support to the activities of the Church.
Prophet Aniakwaa assured the chiefs that the Church will not relent on her efforts to ensure a clean environment. He however pleaded with the Mamponghene to help ensure that sanitation is given keen attention in the municipality.
The Church collaborated with Zoomlion Company Ltd, the Environmental Protection Agency and the Ghana National Fire Service to embark on the exercise.
