Apostle Eric Nyamekye, Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, has urged ministers and wives of the church to make their homes the model for marriage in the society.
According to the Chairman of the church, the Puritans saw the family as the basic unit of the society and a little church in itself.
He said this today on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at the Assin Foso and Twifo Praso Ministers and Wives’ Session of his working visit to the two Areas, at the Foso Station Central Auditorium, Assin Foso.
Speaking on the topic: “Family Life As An Endangered Institution,” Apostle Nyamekye pointed out that it is a call to be a husband and father, a wife and mother, hence both couple must support each other’s salvation.
He noted that as the number of domestic prayers in the home decreased, the number of divorces in the home increased. He, therefore admonished the clergy to accept their wives no matter how they are to set as a precedence for their children.
“It is an understandable fact that marriage was instituted before the onset of Christianity. A well-disciplined and godly family speaks more about the church and Christ, than all the sermons that can be preached,” he explained.
He, then admonished Christian marriage couples to live exemplary lives in their marriages, to serve as a benchmark for their children as well.
He further mentioned that the young people in this generation are losing faith in the institution of marriage, rather they preferred cohabitation to marriage.
“Today’s generation lacks commitment to marry and is afraid of the permanence the concept of marriage proposes; and are quick to jump out of marriage at the slightest challenge”, he stated.
Touching on marriage, he likened it to a house being built which requires a strong and good foundation, and added: “the family is the foundation of the house, when you build it well, you will enjoy staying in it”.
He entreated the clergy to allocate time for marital teachings in the church. This, he believes would help to solve the issues of marriage in the society.
He then advised them to spend more time in prayer and the unadulterated Word of God, be taught in their homes deliberately to make it strong.
