The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has challenged Christians to deepen their faith and trust in God as they enter the new year.

He made the call on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, during the 31st December Watch Night Service at the Dr Thomas Wyatt Worship Centre in the Accra Newtown District in La Area.

Speaking on the topic, ‘A Call to Greatness Through a Life of Faith in God,’ drew from Joshua 1:8, he explained God’s command to Joshua, urging believers to keep the word of God in their hearts and mouths.

‘The word of God is sharper than any double-edged sword, clearing our path so we can walk in the King’s Highway. This word must dominate the thoughts and lives of all believers,’ he emphasised.

Apostle Nyamekye reminded the congregation of the transformative power of faith, grounded in scripture such as 2 Corinthians 5:7, which calls on believers to live by faith and not by sight.

He asserted: ‘When we take our eyes off God and His word, we lose our faith and become like mere humans operating in earthly wisdom and efforts.’

Highlighting the foundational role of faith in the Christian journey, the Chairman referenced Hebrews 11:2-3, emphasising that the universe was formed by God’s command.

‘Everything we see came out of God’s breath and word. When He says He will bless you, don’t doubt Him. His word is alive and active, sustaining all things and equipping believers for greatness,’ he proclaimed.

Using the example of Abraham from Romans 4:18-20, Apostle Nyamekye illustrated the solid faith needed to trust God’s promises despite contradictory facts. According to Chairman Nyamekye, Abraham never doubted God’s promise, even though it seemed impossible by human standards. He was fully persuaded that God would fulfill His word.

‘In 2025, believers must also have this faith, looking beyond their challenges to see the God of the Bible,’ he said.

He also encouraged Christians to emulate the prayerful faith of Jabez, who overcame his painful beginnings by crying out to God to turn his fortunes around.

‘Faith in God is enough to make you great. Trust Him in 2025 for an expansive life,’ he told the congregants.

The Watch Night Service concluded with fervent prayers, worship, and declarations of faith for the new year.

Management and staff members from the Despite Media group, led by Deacon Fada Narh Dickson, who were present at the service, thanked God for a successful year and donated and amount of GH₵ 50,000 to support widows in the church.
