Jesus Died That You Will Be Saved – Prophet Kankam Beditor

The Ashaiman Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Prophet David Kankam Beditor, has asserted that God made His only Son Jesus Christ the sacrificial lamb to pay the ultimate prize to redeem the world from the canker of sin and its agonising consequences.

According to him, Jesus took the place of humanity and died so that man would live and have salvation for their souls.

Prophet Kankam Beditor, who is also an Executive Council Member of the church, was speaking at the opening session of the 2020 Easter Celebration of The Church of Pentecost on PENT TV on Thursday evening, April 9, 2020.

This year’s Easter celebration which is under the theme, “Jesus Died That I Might Live” – 1 Thessalonians 5:9-10; Romans 5:6-8 is being held on PENT TV due to the ban on all social gatherings and the partial lockdown following the outbreak of the novel COVID-19 disease.

The Ashaiman Area Head explained that Apostle Paul wrote the epistle to the Church in Thessalonica to correct the false theories being propounded by some people that there was a particular date that Jesus was going to return to the earth.

In the same vein, he said, some people today believe that the world is coming to an end due to the Coronavirus pandemic that has rocked the world. “Most people have this mentality that whenever the world faces some plague or disaster, then the world will be coming to an end, but it is not so. Our Lord Jesus Christ will indeed come back, but no one knows the day or time of his second coming.

“The Bible tells us that his coming will be unexpected. What is critically important is for every person to accept Christ as his/her Lord and Saviour so that whether you die or live when he appears you will be saved,” he said.

He explained that man lost his enviable position in the Garden of Eden after they were deceived by Satan and sinned against God. He, however, said that God still showed His love towards man by killing a lamb and used its skin to cover them from their nakedness. The lamb, he said, was a spectacle of the Lamb of God (Jesus) who was to be slain to cover the shame and sin of mankind and reconcile them to God.

He further said that God after calling Abraham instructed him to sacrifice his only son Isaac to Him. He said that just as Abraham was about to kill his son, God provided a lamb to be used for the sacrifice instead of Isaac. He indicated that in the same vein, Jesus took the place of humanity and suffered a humiliating death to set man free from the consequences of sin.

The Ashaiman Area Head noted that the lamb that the Israelites killed and smeared the blood on their doorposts to escape death from the angel of destruction, represented Jesus Christ who became a scapegoat and used to redeem mankind from the wrath of God.

Touching on the significance of Jesus’ death, Prophet Kankam Beditor said that Christ laid down his life for man to be pegged of sin, have access to God, and become righteous.

“Jesus died so that sinners will become sons and daughters of God; he died so that those of us living in darkness will come to the light; he died for the spiritually dead to be spiritually alive; he died for the weak to be strong, the sick to be healed, the cursed to be set free; he died to turn our shame into a blessing and for those who have been bound for hellfire to be released and become candidates of heaven,” he said.
