The wife of the Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Mrs Mary Nyamekye, has advised Christians to develop a habit of thanksgiving to God in all situations.
He said this on Wednesday during the Greater Accra Ministers Wives’ bi-monthly prayer meeting held at the Dr Thomas Wyatt Auditorium in Accra. The event was a time of prayer, praise, and fellowship for the pastors’ wives, who also shared testimonies of God’s faithfulness and miracles in their lives and ministries.
In her sermon based on Psalm 116:12-15, Mrs Nyamekye explained that the psalmist expressed his gratitude and love for God who heard his cry and delivered him from a hopeless situation.
She challenged the women to always acknowledge God’s goodness and mercy in their lives and to thank Him for His wonderful gifts.
She said: “God is a prayer answering God who can do all things and who fights our battles for us. He comes in when there is no hope and makes a way. He also gives us joy. He has also given us the Holy Spirit which gives us power to trample on the wicked one.”
She listed some of the blessings that God has given them, such as the breath of life, the salvation through His Son Jesus Christ, the grace to overcome sin, the joy of His presence, the adoption as His children, and the opportunity to serve Him.
She advised them not to take God’s grace for granted or to serve Him casually, but to serve Him with all their heart and to trust Him in every situation.
“Do not stay away from the presence of God. Do not serve God anyhow. Serve Him with all your heart. He is a faithful God who will never leave you nor forsake you,” she concluded.
