General Secretary Interacts With Area Deacons, Accounts Officers On Church’s Financial Policies

The General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi, has tasked Area Deacons, Accounts Officers and Auditors to ensure that the Church’s financial policies are strictly adhered to at all levels.

He encouraged them to work as gatekeepers of the Church at the local, district, area and the national levels to ensure safeguard the finances of the Church.

The General Secretary was speaking at a retreat organised for Area Deacons, Accounts Officers and Auditors of the Church held at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC) on Friday, March 1, 2019. The two-day retreat which ended on Saturday, March 2, was on the theme, “Possessing

The Nations With Financial Integrity.” The participants were drawn from all the 67 Areas of the Church in Ghana, the Finance Department as well as the Audit, Monitoring and Evaluation (AME) Department of the Head Office.

Taking the participants through “Discussions on Financial Issues,” the General Secretary touched on sections of Vision 2023 (the 5-year strategic vision of the Church) and the Ministerial Handbook which deals with the financial management in the Church.

He entreated them to help seal all the loopholes in the implementation of the financial policies relating to ministerial welfare, church projects and administration, among others by ensuring that the Church gets value for money in all her transactions, and that no unauthorised deductions are made at source before tithes and other statutory funds are paid to the Head Office.

The General Secretary further tasked the participants to reposition themselves to be a major driving force behind the smooth implementation of the planned interventions for the next five years.

His presentation ended with questions and answers session, where participants were offered the opportunity to seek some clarifications on the vision document and the Ministerial Handbook.

Other speakers at the retreat were Apostle Rigwell Ato Addison (Rtd.), a former General Secretary of the Church; Apostle Francis Ofori-Yeboah (Rtd.), and Apostle Joseph Kwame Assabil, an Executive Council Member and Area Head for Takoradi.

Present at the retreat were the Finance Board Chairman, Elder Prof. Stephen Owusu Kwankye and other Members of the Board, the Finance and Administration Director (FAD), Pastor Nicholas Darko; the Senior Finance Manager at the Head Office, Elder Franklin Kwabena Poku, and the Audit, Monitoring and Evaluation Manager, Elder Firang Boakye, among others.
