The Church of Pentecost has begun a nationwide training programme aimed at equipping ministers and administrative staff with the skills needed to effectively operate the church’s key digital platforms.
The initiative focuses on three major systems: PentERP, the church’s accounting and financial management platform; PentChMS, the Church Management System used for reporting and membership data management; and PentHR, the human resource and staff appraisal system. The training forms part of the church’s broader effort to strengthen administrative efficiency, accountability, and data management across all levels of the organisation.
To ensure accessibility and wider participation, the programme is being conducted at Area level, allowing ministers and staff to receive practical instruction within their operational zones instead of travelling to a central location. Each session begins with a special training day for Area Heads at the regional level before extending to District clerks, Area accountants, executive assistants, and other officers responsible for administration and reporting.
Speaking on the importance of the programme, Pastor Paul Odai Laryea, IT Manager at the General Headquarters and coordinator of the initiative, stressed that technology has become essential to effective church administration.
“No organisation, including the church, can afford to ignore the direction technology is moving,” he stated, adding, “These systems exist to reduce the burden of administration, improve accountability, and free ministers to focus on ministry.”
The training has already received positive feedback from participants. Pastor Stephen Agyei of the Kintampo Area shared that financial administration had previously been difficult for him due to his lack of accounting background. However, the introduction of PentERP and the practical training sessions have significantly improved his confidence in handling church finances.
Another minister who attended an earlier session admitted he initially assumed the system would be overly technical but later discovered it was user-friendly and easy to understand because of the practical teaching approach.
The Northern and Brong Ahafo Regions have already completed their training sessions, while Ashanti, Western, Central, Volta, Eastern, and Greater Accra Regions are expected to follow in the coming weeks as the nationwide rollout continues.
