Christians Must Not Be Socially Segregated From The World

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has said that although Christians are to distinguish themselves from the people of the world they should not socially isolate themselves from unbelievers.

This is because Christians have not only been called to worship God but also sent back into the world to serve the will of God.

Apostle Eric Nyamekye said this on Sunday, February 17, 2019, when he fellowshipped with the Tetelestai Assembly of the Suame District to round up his visit to the Suame Area.

Speaking on the topic: “The Christian As An Agent Of Transformation”,  he said that it is not the intent of Christ to take believers out of the world, but instead send believers into the world to transform it (John 17:15-19), adding that “as Christians, we are to be in the world but not of the world.”

He explained that when Christians isolate themselves from the world they would not be able to influence and transform it. He, however, noted that although Christians are to be actively involved in the affairs of the world they must not conform to its patterns because they are not of the world (Romans 12:1-2).

Apostle Eric Nyamekye, therefore, advised Christians to reach out to unbelievers and engage them with the sole purpose of transforming them and not vice versa. To avoid the latter, the Chairman urged Christians to always put on the “Helmet of Salvation” (Ephesians 6:17).

“The helmet of salvation guards the mind. This means that throughout our daily engagements with unbelievers, we must never forget that we are saved and we are not to behave like them (unbelievers),” he said.

He added that when Christians live righteous lives, the people of the world would be drawn to them and give glory to God.

Apostle Eric Nyamekye further stated that Christians have been given the power and authority to influence and transform the world.

Reading Luke 9:1-2, the Chairman said that the Holy Spirit has granted believers the authority (mandate to perform) and the power (ability to perform) to draw all humankind to Christ.

He, therefore, urged Christians to take an active interest in the affairs of the state and to influence national culture with Kingdom values and principles. In so doing, all the nations and Kingdoms of the world would submit to the Lordship and kingship of God.
