Evangelism Ministry Organises “Kwahu for Christ” Medical Outreach

A free medical screening exercise was organised by the Evangelism Ministry of The Church of Pentecost yesterday as part of activities for the four-day Easter outreach in the Kwahu Traditional Area of Ghana.

The event, which was held in partnership with the Pra River District of the Church, took place at Aweregya, a community within the district.

The medical team, led by Elder Dr. Ken Aboah, a member of the Evangelism Ministry National Executive Committee, provided free medical screening, free medical consultation and free drugs for the participants.

Prior to the exercise, Elder Dr. Aboah shared the gospel message of Christ with the patrons. He said that Jesus Christ is the most powerful healer and all those who receive Him benefit from His healing power.

He noted that, while on earth, Jesus was very active in His ministry of healing so He spent a lot of time healing those who were sick.

According to him, what makes Jesus’ healing power extraordinary is the fact that He is able to heal all kinds of diseases, including the ones that are beyond the scope of medical officers.

He urged the patrons to have faith in Jesus and trust that He will heal them of every infirmity, both physical and spiritual.

Elder Dr. Aboah also educated them on the importance of physical exercises, proper dieting and the benefits of fasting.

A total of 58 persons received medical care at the event despite the heavy rain downpour, five of whom responded to the call to accept Christ as their Lord and personal Saviour.

Kwahu for Christ” Film Outreach Records 20 Souls

Twenty residents of Aweregya in the Kwahu Traditional Area of Ghana responded to the call to receive Jesus Christ during a film evangelism exercise organised by the Evangelism Ministry of The Church of Pentecost at the Aweregya Community Park, yesterday.

The event, which was organised in collaboration with the Pra River District of the Church, is part of activities for the four-day Easter outreach in the Kwahu Traditional Area of Ghana.

Using a series of graphical footages, Elder Justice Kusi of the Evangelism Ministry Directorate shared the gospel message of Christ with residents of the community who had thronged the park.

He said that life on earth was too short and uncertain the reason why all must receive Christ, who offers life in abundance. Elder Kusi indicated that the world has nothing better to offer humanity except for tragedy, misery and misfortune.

He further explained that humankind is distinct from all other creations of God because they precious to Him. He said that the delicate nature of the birth process all point to the fact that God has high regard for them.

Elder Kusi, therefore, called on all who are yet to accept Christ to do so in order accomplish the purpose for which God created them.

He warned that every human being would one day account for their life on earth and, therefore, every individual must make the decision to either choose eternal life or eternal damnation.

Twenty of the onlookers responded to the altar call made by Elder Kusi, and were led to accept Christ by Elder Ebenezer Twum, Presiding Elder of the Aweregya Assembly.

The converts were each presented a Bible to aid their spiritual growth.

Have Faith In The Power Of Jesus – Apostle Ato Addison To Christians

Apostle Rigwell Ato Addison (Rtd), a former General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, has urged Christians to have faith in the power of Jesus Christ.

“We can always take up their mats and go home with the assurance that Jesus has paid it all and we are free,” he said as he preached today at the ongoing Easter Convention at the Fred Stephen Safo Memorial Temple, Nungua Nshorna.

Preaching on the theme for the convention, “Jesus Christ Paid It All” and reading from, Isaiah 54: 14-15, Apostle Ato Addison stated that the Prophet Isaiah truly projected the Lord Jesus Christ.

According to him, the Prophet gave a good description of who a messiah is and what is expected of him.

He further stated that the statement “Jesus Christ paid it all” connotes the cancellation of any debt owed by a person on earth.

He, therefore, urged Christians to be resolute in faith in God and this will propel them onto greatness.

“The Prophet Isaiah also championed and projected Jesus as the suffering man. He will come as a man, if we believe he will carry all our burdens and infirmities,” he added.

Reading from Colossians 2:14-15, Apostle Addison also stated that Jesus Christ, having canceled the indebtedness of humanity, has nailed it to the cross.

He explained that, by virtue of His death and resurrection, Jesus Christ has taken away the charge sheet and thus saved us from condemnation.

“Having disarmed the powers and authorities, Jesus made a public spectacle of them and triumphed over them by the cross.

“So, if we say Jesus Christ paid it all, it is justified because through him salvation is for all.” he said.

The Death Of Jesus Is Divine Exchange – Pastor Oduro

The Yennyawoso District Minister of The Church of Pentecost, Pastor Charles Oduro, has described the death of Jesus Christ as a divine exchange because Jesus Christ exchanged His sinless life with the sinful nature of humankind by dying on the cross.

Pastor Oduro said this in a sermon he delivered on Thursday morning [April 6, 2023] at the ongoing New Tafo Zone Easter Convention at the New Tafo Division School Park.

Speaking to the event’s theme: “Jesus Christ, The Atoning Sacrifice For Our Sins,” based on 1 John 2:2, the Yennyawoso District Minister enlightened that the word ‘atonement’ which is synonymous with “reconciliation” is the restoration of a broken relationship.

The clergyman quoted Romans 5:12 and expounded that the entire human race became an object of sin, following the disobedience of Adam. He, however, noted that God, through Jesus Christ, brought the salvation plan to redeem humanity (Isaiah 53).

“Mankind was again reconciled back to God through the death of Jesus on the cross,” he stated.

Explaining why the death of Jesus is a divine exchange, Pastor Oduro intimated that Jesus Christ, who knew no sin was made sin for mankind so that in Him, believers might become the righteousness of God.

“Whoever believes in Christ Jesus is no longer a sinner. So, God does not see us as sinners, but righteous people,” he highlighted.

He further mentioned that Jesus was punished for the sins of the world so that believers might receive forgiveness (Isaiah 53:10). “Jesus became a curse so that we might receive God’s blessings. He exchange His glory with our shame; endured our rejection that we might have God’s acceptance; He died so that we might receive life (Romans 5:6-8),” Pastor Oduro added.

Another good news worth reflecting on, that the man of God further said was that: “Jesus endured our poverty that we might share His abundance (2 Corinthians 8:9).”

According to the Yennyawoso District Minister, Jesus Christ is a full package, targeted to meet all the needs of mankind, saying, “All things were made through Christ Jesus, therefore, having Him implies that you have everything.”

Pastor Charles Oduro, however, stressed that these virtues and goodies can never be earned, but only be received by faith in Christ Jesus (Hebrews 11:6).

He, therefore, urged the congregants to have an absolute faith in Christ Jesus and believe that His death has liberated them from all kinds of curses and the shackles of the evil one.

“The entire message of the Gospel revolves around one unique historical event, that is, the sacrificial death of Jesus on the cross,” he pointed out, adding, “For one sovereign act God solved the problem of humanity (Hebrews 10:14).”

You Are Debt Free! – Apostle Otu-Nyarko Tells Christians

The Finance and Administration Director (FAD) at The Church of Pentecost Headquarters and the Resident Minister for the D. K. Annan Worship Centre, Apostle Lawrence Otu-Nyarko, has asserted that Jesus Christ has fully paid for the sins of humanity, hence anyone who receives Him becomes debt-free.

Apostle Otu-Nyarko said this yesterday when he opened this year’s Easter Convention for the English Zone of the Teshie-Nungua Area at the Fred Safo Memorial Temple, Nshorna, Nungua.

The event is under the theme, “He Paid It All” Isaiah 53:4-6 and Colossians 2: 14-15.

Reading from Colossians 2:14-15, he explained debt as a sum of money that is owed or due, or a state of owing money to another person, an institution or an entity.

He further explained that debt is the cost incurred as a result of the consumption of goods and services. The cost incurred as a result of transacting goods and services for a past or present or the future. “A debt can accrue from the past, it can accrue now and it can accrue for the future,” he said.

According to Apostle Otu-Nyarko, as Christians, their past sins, which are post-paid, present sins, which are cash and carry, and their future sins, which are prepaid, have all been taken care of by the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

He explained that the debt that has been generated came about as a result of the fall of man in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 2: 15-17, Romans 3:23), so God sent His son, in the person of Jesus Christ, to pay their debt.

He further indicated that God created humankind in His own image (male and female), blessed them, and charged them to be fruitful and increase in number.

He said that God gave everything to man, but there was one tree that God exempted man from eating – the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. However, as a result of disobedience, man became indebted to God.

“We do not become sinners because we are doing sinful acts after birth and no one can say he was born by a Minister of God so they are holy,” he said, adding: “The fact is that once you are born by a woman, you are a sinner if you do not have Christ.”

“If you are a child of an Elder, a Deacon, or a Deaconess, and you think that because your father is in good standing you are saved, you need to make a decision for Christ and stop playing in the corridors of the devil since your debt has been paid,” he advised.

Enumerating some of the consequences of having a debt, Apostle Otu-Nyarko said indebtedness could cause sicknesses, unhappiness, restlessness, and even death.

“When we became indebted to the devil, we became slaves to the devil, and in the slave market, you lose your identity; you lose touch with your family,” he said.

He also observed that those who are still under the bondage of sin are not of themselves since they have been enslaved by the devil, the slave master.

“This is why some people are addicted to cocaine, heroin, and womanizing, among other vices. they cannot control themselves, the slave master controls them,” he said. “The good news, however, is that, it does not matter how sinful you are, it does not matter how you have conducted yourself, Jesus paid it all,” he added.

Apostle Otu-Nyarko noted that Jesus purposely came down to earth to save, redeem, rescue, regain, reclaim and retrieve humankind so that they will no longer be under the control of the devil.

He, therefore, called on all who are yet to receive Christ to do so in order to have their debt cancelled and be liberated.

Pilate’s Dilemma

Pilate’s Dilemma

Jesus Must  Die

The Jewish religious leaders had finished cross-examining Jesus. He had been tried before Annas, the father-in-law of the High Priest (John 18:13, 24), Caiaphas, the High Priest, (John 18:24) and the whole Sanhedrin (Matt. 26:57). The verdict from this trial was: He has spoken blasphemy; He must die! (Matt. 26:63-66).

They wanted him dead but guess what, they were too religious to kill Him with their “holy” hands, so, they resolved to employ the “sinful” hands of the Romans to execute their judgement.

We Must Liaise With the Secular Government to Deal With Him

It was very early in the morning. Pilate had barely risen up from his sleep. The ignorant crowd together with the conspiring Jewish leaders brought Jesus to Pilate’s court. They brought Him to Pilate manhandled, and bound.

Bringing him to Pilate was the beginning of a secular trial to obtain a legal permit to execute Jesus as they had resolved. After a series of cross-examinations, Pilate realized that Jesus was innocent. The Jewish leaders had only brought Him there because of envy (Matt. 27:18). His wife confirmed his convictions about Jesus when she sent a word of caution to him while he sat on his judgement seat. She cautioned, “Have nothing to do with that just Man, for I have suffered many things today in a dream because of Him.” (Matt. 27:19).

Pilate is now in a Dilemma

Pilate sat in his judgement seat confused. He had been put on the spot. An urgent decision must be made. A verdict must be passed. Neutrality was impossible. By all means, he had to take sides, but which side? A sentence must be passed on Jesus, the Son of God. The crowd and the Jewish leaders were resolute: Jesus must die because He is blasphemous; He makes Himself God (which He indeed was). Pilate is in danger of coming into conflict with Caesar, his boss. How does he keep a friendship with Jesus and Caesar at the same time?

His strategy to outsmart the Jews by pairing Jesus with Barabbas, a murderer had proved futile. They had denied Jesus, “the Holy One and the Just, and asked for Barabbas the murderer” to be released to them. They had delivered Jesus, the Author of life to death instead of the murderer (Acts 3:14-15).

Pilate’s Dilemma

Finding himself in a great dilemma, Pilate asked the crowd, “What shall I do with Jesus who is called the Christ?”

Which Option is Best?

Should I follow the example of the greedy Judas Iscariot in selling Jesus for money or  I should follow the steps of the fearful Peter to deny Him before people to save myself from persecution?

Should I follow the demands of the envious and corrupt Jewish religious leaders to crucify Jesus Christ so that the merchandise and exploitation in the house of God could continue or I should follow the example of Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimathea to become secret followers of Jesus Christ for the fear of men?

Should I follow the example of the unbelieving and sinful soldiers in mocking and humiliating Jesus,  only to realize in the end that truly, He was the Son of God when it is too late (Matt. 27:54) or  I should follow the example of the selfless Simon of Cyrene in giving myself to carrying the cross of Christ daily and also to believe on Him to give me the assurance of paradise (heaven) even while I am still on earth like He did with the repentant thief on the cross?

Pilate Makes a Grave Mistake

Unfortunately, Pilate made a grave mistake in resolving his dilemma.  Instead of taking responsibility for resolving it himself, he decided to allow the crowd to influence him to do so.

Therefore, Pilate asked the crowd, “What shall I do with Jesus who is called the Christ?” They all answered, “Crucify Him!” When Pilate realized that their response conflicted with his personal convictions about the Christ, he retorted, “Why? What crime has He committed?” But the crowd shouted even louder, “Crucify Him!”

Sorry, Pilate, You Cannot Shirk This Responsibility!

Now, when Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere with the crowd, but that instead, an uproar was starting, he took water and washed his hands in front of the crowd. By that act, Pilate was signifying to the crowd that he was not responsible for his decision but the crowd was. He was shirking his personal responsibility for resolving his dilemma about Jesus Christ to the crowd but it never worked. Centuries later, our creeds will still read that Jesus  “suffered under Pontius Pilate!” He could not be innocent after all. History did not allow it to be so and eternity will not be any different!

Pilate’s Dilemma is Humanity’s Dilemma

“What should I do with Jesus Christ” is every human’s dilemma. Every one of us must personally decide on what to do with Jesus, who is called the Christ. None of us can be neutral to this dilemma. It is a must-choose, for there is no middle ground!

Today, God has granted that every human being who walks the face of this earth sits on their judgement seat like Pilate did, ‘cross examine’ Jesus, and pronounce their verdict of what they will do with Him who is called the Christ (John 3:18-19) while being mindful that soon, Jesus will also sit on His judgement seat and pronounce His judgement on every single human being according to what they chose to do with Him. (Matt. 26:64; 2Cor. 5:10).

Those who denied Him before men, He will also deny before God (2Tim. 2:12; Luk. 9:26); those who scorned at His instructions and beckoning,  He will also treat light when calamity falls on them (Prov. 1:24-27); but those who believed in Him,  He will give them the power to become the children of God (John 1:12). Now, is the decision time. What will you do with Jesus, who is called the Christ?

New Combine Women’s Ministry Embarks On Outreach At Nyameben Basic School

New Combine Women’s Ministry in the Agormanya Area of The Church of Pentecost has embarked on an outreach programme at Nyameben Basic School, near Marine in Akosombo.

Preaching the gospel at the event which took place on March 24, 2023, Mrs. Esther Kesse, the wife of the District Pastor, based her message on John 3:16 and said that God has packaged Jesus Christ for the world so that he would become the solution to the world’s problem.

She indicated that Jesus was packaged in such a way that everything that mankind needed is found in him.

“So if you are looking for success in your exams, it is found in Jesus; if you are looking for a bright future, it is found in Jesus; if you are looking for deliverance and breakthrough in life, it is found in Jesus who has been packaged as a perfect gift for the world,” she said, adding, “You need to accept this perfect gift from God targeted to meet all our needs and aspirations in life.”

Mrs Kesse revealed that God did not impose Jesus on mankind. Instead, God gave him as a gift to the world to be owned by any man who receives him with a good and thankful heart.

She, therefore, encouraged the students to accept Jesus Christ whom God gave to the world out of his abundant love because the solution to the world’s problems is found in him.

In all, 56 students and a teacher accepted Christ as their Lord and Saviour while 37 backsliders rededicated their lives to Christ.

Pastor Martin Kesse (District Minister), who prayed for the new converts, took the opportunity to talk to the students and staff to be environmentally conscious by keeping the school and home environments clean.

He encouraged the teachers to inculcate environmental-related topics in their lessons to conscientize the students to take good care of the environment.

The outreach exercise ended with hot lunch. All the 250 students and staff were served with hot lunch.

In response, the headmaster of the school, Mr. Eric Siakor, expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the District Pastor and his wife, and the Women’s Ministry for the uncommon gesture done to them.

He blessed The Church of Pentecost in general for the precious investment it is making in all spheres of life to possess the nations. He encouraged the church to come to the school frequently to talk to the students.
