Let Your Marriages Be Examples To The Society – Apostle Nyamekye Tells The Clergy

Let Your Marriages Be Examples To The Society – Apostle Nyamekye Tells The Clergy

Apostle Eric Nyamekye, Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, has urged ministers and wives of the church to make their homes the model for marriage in the society.

According to the Chairman of the church, the Puritans saw the family as the basic unit of the society and a little church in itself.

He said this today on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at the Assin Foso and Twifo Praso Ministers and Wives’ Session of his working visit to the two Areas, at the Foso Station Central Auditorium, Assin Foso.

Speaking on the topic: “Family Life As An Endangered Institution,” Apostle Nyamekye pointed out that it is a call to be a husband and father, a wife and mother, hence both couple must support each other’s salvation.

He noted that as the number of domestic prayers in the home decreased, the number of divorces in the home increased. He, therefore admonished the clergy to accept their wives no matter how they are to set as a precedence for their children.

“It is an understandable fact that marriage was instituted before the onset of Christianity. A well-disciplined and godly family speaks more about the church and Christ, than all the sermons that can be preached,” he explained.

He, then admonished Christian marriage couples to live exemplary lives in their marriages, to serve as a benchmark for their children as well.

He further mentioned that the young people in this generation are losing faith in the institution of marriage, rather they preferred cohabitation to marriage.

“Today’s generation lacks commitment to marry and is afraid of the permanence the concept of marriage proposes; and are quick to jump out of marriage at the slightest challenge”, he stated.

Touching on marriage, he likened it to a house being built which requires a strong and good foundation, and added: “the family is the foundation of the house, when you build it well, you will enjoy staying in it”.

He entreated the clergy to allocate time for marital teachings in the church. This, he believes would help to solve the issues of marriage in the society.

He then advised them to spend more time in prayer and the unadulterated Word of God, be taught in their homes deliberately to make it strong.

The Assin Foso Area of The Church of Pentecost, is led by Apostle Frederick K. and Mrs. Kate Andoh, and comprises of Foso Town, Foso Station, Assin Akonfudi, Assin Aworoso, Assin Manso, Assin Nyankomasi, Mempeasem, Assin Praso, Assin Bereku, Assin Darmang, Assin Adiembra, Hasowode, Assin Nsuta, Adansi Atwereboana, Assin Andoe, Assin Akrofuom, and Assin Akropong districts.

The Family Is the Base of The Society In Possessing The Nations – Apostle Nyamekye

Apostle Eric Nyamekye, Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, has admonished that the family is an integral unit of the society, and therefore  the church must make efforts to protect it in the ‘possessing the nations’ agenda.

This, he said yesterday, Monday, March 14, 2022, during an encounter with ministers and wives at the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC)-Nkawkaw Auditorium, Nkawkaw Asuboni, in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

Speaking on the topic, “Family Life As An ‘Endangered’ Institution,” Apostle Nyamekye indicated that currently the youth envision family life as a bother and an inconvenience to their freedom.

“When people say marriage is outdated, those of us within should set good examples for them to see,” he urged.

According to the Chairman of the church, people are shunning away from marriage because they want to avoid the responsibilities attached to it.  “They want a man, not a husband; a woman and not a wife; a partner not a spouse, and a progeny not a child”, he added.

He continued by saying that “the generation today lacks the commitment to marry, and is afraid of the permanence the concept of marriage proposes; they are quick to jump out of marriage at the slightest challenge.”

He explained that research has proven that marital abortions exceeded that of pre-marital abortions.

“If you don’t protect yourself and you put to seed; you must deliver the baby, but if you can’t handle the responsibilities of new babies, protect yourself rather than aborting,” he counselled.

He admonished Christians to refrain from using their bad marriages as examples to push against marriages, and mentioned that: “Whether marriage becomes a blessing or torment, it depends on the couple involved.”

He therefore asserted that one marriage can influence a lot of marriages and that it is an understandable fact that marriage was instituted before the onset of Christianity.

Reading from Proverbs 18:22, he noted that if someone marries, he or she has found a good thing and receives favour from the Lord. He therefore said that if your marriage is bad, it is so because of the two people involved, moreover, there is no bad marriage.

“The Christian family life should be likened to the Puritans who see family as more of an extended model in contrast to the nuclear family; and also saw the family as the basic unit of the society and a little church in itself (seminary),” he urged.

He explained that the Puritan family seeing family life as a calling and seminary, however, portrayed it as a call to be a husband and father; a wife and a mother; and a call to support each other’s salvation.

He called on the clergy to include all those who reside with them as family and not to look down upon anyone.

The Chairman of the church further advised the ministers and their wives to involve their children in the ministry. This, he said brings out generational blessings to the family. “You must work on your children to stay in Christ,” he added.

Again, he directed Christians to make the home a family altar where home worship is conducted regularly according to the availability of everyone.

Concluding his message, Apostle Nyamekye told the clergy to be consistent in their ministries, whereas, the confirmation of their children in their ministry makes them extraordinary Men of God.

Mrs. Mary Nyamekye, wife of the Chairman of the church, after, led the pastorate in an intensive moment of prayers.

Present were Prophet Foster Kwasi Aniakwaa; Nkawkaw Area Head, Mrs. Grace Aniakwaa; wife of Nkawkaw Area Head, and the Nkawkaw Area pastorate.

Some retirees of the church who joined the session were Pastor Thomas Osei Sarpong (Rtd.), Pastor Seth Owusu Amankwah (Rtd.), Pastor Daniel Kofi Asante (Rtd.), Pastor Samuel Kwadwo Mintah (Rtd.), and Pastor Aaron Theophilus Acheampong (Rtd.).

The Nkawkaw Area of the church comprises of 26 districts, namely: Nkawkaw Akuajoo, Nkawkaw Nsuta, Nkawkaw Adoagyiri, Obo, Nkawkaw Asuboni, Kwahu Praso, New Jejeti, Mpraeso, Bepong, Abetifi, Miaso, Adawso, Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC)-Nkawkaw, Nkawkaw Amanfrom, Tweapease, Asuboni Rails, Nnadieso, Pra River, Pankese, Hweehwee, Akwasiho, Akoase, Pepease, Apradang, Kwahu Tafo, and Nwinso.

Chairman Climaxes Afram Plains Area Tour

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has ended his four-day ministerial visit in the Afram Plains Area of the church.

The tour which began on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, ended on Sunday, March 13, 2022. It saw the Chairman of the church visiting the Dwarf Island, Ekye, Nton-Aboma and the three zonal areas in Maame Krobo, Tease, and Donkorkrom.

Addressing the members of the Atakora and Donkorkrom Districts in a joint service on the topic: “The Church As the Equipping Centre in Carrying out the Great Commission,” Apostle Nyamekye said that Rev. James McKeown came to Ghana to sow a seed on March 4, 1937, the results which we see today.

Apostle Nyamekye said this during the McKeown Missions Week climax on Sunday, March 13, 2022, at the Donkorkrom Central Auditorium.

“Today, the seed sown has harvested into multiple folds and we are all products of this seed, The Church of Pentecost,” he said.

According to the Chairman of the Church, the Great Commission was given to the disciples by Jesus Christ, to spread the gospel all over the world (Matthew 28:18-20).

He stated that: “The mandate of the Great Commission is bigger than evangelism, which is the proclamation of the gospel, but the great commission is to make disciples for Christ”.

He added: “The church is not the focus of the Great Commission, yet the church is the most important tool to achieve the commission.”

He noted that the church is the equipping centre, a training ground where believers are prepared as an army of God to impact the society.

He further urged Christians to make maximum impact as the salt and light of the world; transforming every sphere of the society.

He iterated that the early church had a national focus, where their songs demonstrated the urgency of the commission as they possessed the nations for Christ.

“We must demonstrate the principles of the kingdom in the world. These are the principles of work, service, dignity of labour, respect for all, value of honesty and the value of kindness,” he charged.

The Chairman of the Church, on Wednesday, March 9, visited the Atakora Chief, Nana Akuamoah Boateng Tano II, where he spoke about the humanitarian efforts and activities of the church in the area, and the plans to strengthen the church-palace relationship through the Chieftaincy Ministry of the church. Later in the evening, he also met the 21 ministers and wives in the area.

On Thursday, March 10, 2022, he visited the Dwarf Island, precisely, Cedi-Kope which is about 20 to 30 minutes drive in a speed boat across the River Afram. He was welcomed by the members of the church and later joined them in a short service organised at the Cedi-Kope Central Assembly Auditorium which is presided by Deaconess Martha Vudugah. The Dwarf Island District has a total of 22 local assemblies.

He later joined officers and members in the Maame Krobo Zone, where he charged them to be the light of the world to help eradicate the canker of corruption. The Maame Krobo zone is diversified with Kokombas, Krachis, Dargartis, Ewes and Krobos.

Joining the Ekye Amanfrom District Mega Friday Prayers in the morning at the Ekye Central and English Auditorium, Apostle Nyamekye mentioned that we became God’s children the moment we accepted the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

“The moment you come to Christ, eschew all fetish activities, therefore, let us be living testimonies indicating the faithfulness of God,” he admonished.

At the Tease Zonal meeting, later in the evening, the Chairman of the church highlighted on the Vision 2023 document of The Church of Pentecost, and indicated that everyone has been selected to go and possess nations.

Earlier on Saturday, March 12, 2022, he joined the Nton-Aboma community to fellowship with the chiefs and members of the community. He then acknowledged the peaceful living nature of the community and chiefs towards ministers sent to shepherd the church there.

Nton-Aboma, according to Nana Akyeamfour Akuamoah Boateng II, Kontihene of Akroso, is a resettlement island of four (4) towns who originally lived by the Volta Lake in 1964, but had to be relocated there because of the Akosombo Dam construction.

Later in the evening, he climaxed the zonal meetings with the Donkorkrom zone. He explained the 2022 theme of the church and prayed with the church.

The Afram Plains Area of the church is headed by Apostle Victor Asamoah and wife, Mrs. Rebecca Asamoah. As at December, 2021, it had an overall membership of 32,416, and 21 districts with 230 local assemblies. It is considered an internal missions area in the church.

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost Visits Atakora Chief

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, yesterday March 9, 2022, paid a courtesy call on the Atakora Chief, Nana Akuamoah Boateng Tano II, in Afram Plains, near Donkorkrom, in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

The visit was to inform the chief about his tour in the area and to show his respect to the traditional ruler since he was on his land.

According to the Chairman, the chief in any community is one of the most important persons, therefore, it was expedient to pay that courtesy call on him.

Briefing the Chairman on the history of Afram Plains, in his welcome address, Nana Akuamoah Boateng Tano II, explained that the first inhabitants were hunters who had crossed over to explore the opportunities available in the forested land in the 1920s.

He said that Afram Plains did not only serve as a hunting ground but also a food producing land which made voyagers to stay as they explored.

He iterated that throughout the years, though Afram Plains was not a place with a lot of Christian activities, it has grown to inhabit about 42 churches with The Church of Pentecost (CoP) inclusive.

“A king whom God is not with, your reign would not last for long,” he stated.

He, therefore, mentioned that constituting a Council of Elders to advise him, some clergy had been incorporated as members too.

He further advised the church to continue collaborating and leaving peacefully with the community and thanked the Chairman for the privileged visit.

Among the entourage of the Atakorahene (Atakora Chief) was Obaahemaa Yaa Serwaa, Atakorahemaa (Queenmother) of Atakora, and his sub-chiefs who help govern the land.

The Chairman in response thanked the chief for the opportunity and relayed that as part of efforts of the church to bridge the gap between the church and the chieftaincy, the Chieftaincy Ministry of the church had been inaugurated to bring royals together in worship to God.

“We believe chieftaincy is leadership in God,” he noted while encouraging all royals in the church to take up chieftaincy roles when they are called to reign.

He further called on all chiefs and royals to be unified in governing their lands without leaving all the decisions to politicians to determine how they should rule their people.

He then entreated all chiefs to be more hospitable to transferred ministers and their wives to their communities to help build a strong alliance.

He pledged to support the community with 200 bags of cement (about GH₵ 10,000), to help continue their community palace project which had progressed steadily.

Chairman Begins Working Visit To Afram Plains Area

Apostle Eric Nyamekye, Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, has begun five-day working visit to the Afram Plains Area of the church, from Wednesday, March 9, 2022, to Sunday, March 13, 2022.

The Chairman would be meeting ministers and their wives, officers and members in the three zonal centres of the area in Donkorkrom, Tease, and Maame Krobo.

Earlier yesterday, March 9, 2022, Apostle Victor Asamoah, Afram Plains Area Head, led the Chairman and his wife, Mrs. Mary Nyamekye, and a delegation of the clergy to pay a courtesy call on Nana Akuamoah Boateng Tano II, Atakora Chief, in his palace at Atakora, near Donkorkrom, Afram Plains in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

The Chairman spoke about the humanitarian efforts and activities of the church in the area, and the future plans put in place to strengthen the church-palace bond through the Chieftaincy Ministry of the church.

He appraised the Afram Plains Area Head of the church for the harmonious relationship he has built; prayed for a long-lasting union between both institutions in the area for church and community growth.

Apostle Nyamekye then pledged a support of 200 bags of cement (an amount of GH₵10,000) to the chief, to help the community complete their community palace structure.

He later met all ministers and their wives in the area at the Donkorkrom English Assembly Auditorium, in Donkorkrom.

Highlighting on the Vision 2023 document of the church, Apostle Eric Nyamekye spoke on the subject, “The Family As the Base of transformation in Our Homes”.

He said that marriage is not an idea or product from the society, rather it is God’s own idea given to men.

He further said that God will always give us someone who is opposite of the individual to build tolerance and patience.

“Accept your spouse no matter the temperamental change, especially with their strengths and weakness,” he stated.

The Chairman defined marriage as “a creation ordinance to mankind instituted in the Garden of Eden,” and said that it can not be compared to singleness.

He added: “You marry to help your spouse’s salvation. If your philosophy for marriage is not found in the scriptures, then it is not from God; it is just man’s ideas”.

Quoting from Luke 1:5, he stated that though Zechariah was the only named priest, his wife Elizabeth, a descendant of Aaron, was equally a priest, however, dominance was more on Zechariah. He, therefore, admonished ministers’ wives to avoid uttering words and demonstrating attitudes contrary to the ministry.

“The ministry of The Church of Pentecost has to do with the man and his wife. Don’t say I married a pastor, thereby, leaving the work on your husband. Both the minister and his wife must live righteously; not separate from the priest,” he explained.

He further implored ministers’ wives to concentrate more on the ministry even if they are working in other acceptable fields.

He urged them to draw near to their husbands after church services, support and together engage members, rather than demonstrating jealousy towards them.

“For us marriage should be strategic. We have to be at an advantage because our marriages should speak. Take Christianity into your homes,” he urged and advised that they work on love effortlessly.

He pointed out that the union between the husband and the wife is a three-minded affair (man, woman and God). He then asked Christians to involve their children which guarantees a generational blessing in the family.

“It is a godly marriage that will bring godly offspring in the society,” he said.

He reiterated that if Christians want to transform the society, their homes should be the platform, therefore, they must create a culture of devotion in the home.
