Apostle John Budu Kobina Tawiah, the Tamale Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, has highlighted that God’s plan for humanity goes beyond race, ethnicity, and background, uniting all believers through faith in Jesus Christ.

He made this statement during the opening session of the 2024 National Fulani Convention held in Tamale, which brought together various groups, including the Fulani, Chokosi, and Kotokoli tribes.

Addressing the theme, “The Church as a People of God,” Apostle Tawiah, who also serves as the Northern Regional Coordinating Committee (NRCC) Coordinator, referenced 1 Peter 2:9-10, reminding attendees of the church’s identity as God’s chosen people.

He explained, “God initially selected Abraham and the Israelites to be His people, but this has changed. Now, God has empowered all individuals, regardless of race, who accept Jesus Christ to be His people.” He referred to John 3:16 to emphasise that salvation is available to everyone who believes in Christ, stating, “The qualification to become a people of God is to believe in Jesus Christ.”

He added, “If humans were to determine who belongs to God, they would likely choose only their immediate family. But thankfully, the pathway to heaven is through Jesus alone.”

Further supporting his message, he cited 2 Thessalonians 2:13-14, noting that it is God who calls individuals into His family, not based on human merit or actions.

“We do not come to Jesus because of our righteousness, wealth, or beauty, but because of God’s grace,” he emphasised.

In a strong call for unity and commitment, he urged attendees to honour their identity in Christ by living righteous and faithful lives.

“God does not show partiality,” he concluded, reminding participants of the universal and inclusive nature of God’s love.

The event highlighted the shared faith and fellowship among diverse tribes, with Apostle Tawiah’s message serving as a call to embrace the diversity of God’s kingdom while remaining united in Christ.

The Church of Pentecost has ended a nationwide training programme for pastors and district clerks on the use of its accounting software, PentERP.

The training began in the Greater Accra Region at seven centres, marking a significant step in the church’s digital transformation agenda.

Elder Emmanuel Anane Boate, Chairman of the PentERP Implementation Committee, officially opened the training, emphasising the importance of the system and encouraging participants to engage with a spirit of collaboration. He clarified that this initiative is not merely an IT project, but a church-wide effort that requires collective commitment.

Elder Boate stressed that no Area programmes should disrupt the training, which has been approved by the Executive Council.

He also praised the church’s IT Manager, Pastor Paul Odai Laryea, and his team for their exceptional work in bringing this project to fruition.

The first day of training focused on the tithes module, equipping participants with the knowledge and tools necessary to manage financial records efficiently. By the end of the month, all districts in the Greater Accra Region are expected to be operational with the system.

The training will expand to other regions in the coming months, with the nationwide implementation set for completion by April 2025. Once fully implemented, PentERP will streamline the church’s financial processes and enhance accountability across all Areas in Ghana.

Participants expressed appreciation for the training and the usefulness of the system to their work. In attendance was over 300 ministers and their clerks.

The Sunyani Central District of The Church of Pentecost celebrated its 75th anniversary on Sunday, October 20, 2024, under the theme, “Celebrating the Faithfulness of God” (Psalm 119:90).

Since its humble beginnings in 1949, the church has grown into a vibrant, compassionate, and spiritually nourishing community, impacting countless lives.

In commemoration of this milestone, the Sunyani Central District organised a series of impactful events to give back to society and to positively influence lives.

Pastor Stephen Dankyi Asante, the District Minister, along with his wife and the church congregation, embarked on a clean-up exercise at the Nana Bosoma Market in Sunyani, promoting environmental hygiene and community pride.

Additionally, a mechanized borehole was drilled to provide a reliable water source for the Social Welfare Technical and Vocational School. The sod-cutting ceremony was performed by Apostle James Gabriel Quardson, the Sunyani Area Head. The project, funded by the Sunyani East Member of Parliament, Hon. Kwasi Ameyaw-Cheremeh, cost GH¢ 54,000.00.

The Pentecost Preparatory School in Odumase, a suburb of Sunyani, also benefitted from the Church’s generosity. The school received a fully furnished library and an ICT laboratory, which were commissioned by Apostle James Gabriel Quardson, with assistance from the district minister. This contribution cost the district GH¢65,173.00.

Addressing the students, Pastor Dankyi emphasised that this investment was not merely about furnishing a computer laboratory, but also about investing in the lives and futures of the young students. He remarked that education is the cornerstone of development, progress, and opportunity, highlighting the importance of providing students with access to essential tools, especially in today’s rapidly advancing digital age.

“Sadly, many schools struggle to provide such resources. As the church reflects on its 75 years of faithfulness, it is reminded of its responsibility to extend love and kindness to others,” he added.

Books for the library were donated by the International Christian Mission (ICM) through the Pentecost Social Services (PENTSOS).

The church also organised a community health fair, offering free health screenings and services to attendees, including basic vital sign check-ups, eye, dental, and ear, nose, and throat examinations, as well as blood screenings.

As they celebrate 75 years of faith and service, the Sunyani Central District looks forward to a future of transformation, youth empowerment, and spiritual renewal.

The 75th anniversary signifies a significant milestone, highlighting the church’s dedication to faith and service as they honour their heritage and embrace the future with a renewed sense of purpose and impact.

The celebration was graced by notable guests, including Apostle James Gabriel Quardson (Sunyani Area Head), Apostle Robert Andoh (Berekum Area Head), Apostle F.K. Andoh (retired), Elder Dr. Odeneho Affram Brempong III (Suma Manhene and National Secretary for Chieftaincy Ministry), Hon. Justina Owusu Banahene (Bono Regional Minister), Hon. Kwasi Ameyaw-Cheremeh (MP for Sunyani East), and all parliamentary candidates from the Sunyani East Constituency.

Apostle Daniel Yeboah Nsaful, the Old Tafo Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, has asserted that the name ‘Jesus’ possesses immense power to perform extraordinary and miraculous deeds.

While speaking at the morning session of the ‘Kenyase For Christ Crusade’ being organised by the New Tafo Area on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at the Kenyase Central Assembly auditorium, he preached on the topic, “In the Name of Jesus Christ,” highlighting the transformative nature of Jesus’ name.

Referencing scriptures such as Acts 3:6, Mark 16:17, and Philippians 2:9-11, Apostle Nsaful explained that names primarily serve as identifiers. However, he emphasised that the name of Jesus not only identifies but also facilitates miracles and great works. He illustrated this with the story of the lame man healed by Peter through the name of Jesus at the ‘Beautiful Gate,’ underscoring the power of Jesus’ name.

The Old Tafo Area Head highlighted the significance of Jesus’ name, noting that it gives life and grace, and carries authority, divine influence, reputation, anointing (Luke 4:18), and God’s accreditation.

Quoting John 14:13, Apostle Yeboah Nsaful stressed that within the name of Jesus lie solutions to all human problems. He, therefore, encouraged the congregation to call upon the name ‘Jesus’ in every circumstance.

After the sermon, he led the congregation in a time of intense prayer.

The Nkenkaasu District in the Offinso Area of The Church of Pentecost has organised its first mass wedding for six couples, including Elder Joseph Adom Frimpong, the 2024 Offinso North Best Farmer.

Held on Saturday, November 9, 2024, the event attracted a large crowd, inspiring many attendees to bless their marriages.

Pastor Roderick Kyere-Djan, the District Minister, shared that many people in the district had not registered their marriages for various trivial reasons.

“We realised that members were not motivated to bless their marriages. To address this, we provided intensive teachings on marriage and family life as enshrined in the Vision 2028 document. After the sessions, we invited interested members to participate, allocating most of our budget to this initiative and emphasising simplicity to show that blessing a marriage is not difficult,” he explained, adding, “This intentional focus drew the attention of many members, leading to increased participation.”

As a result, several couples who had previously hesitated to bless their marriages found renewed interest upon realising that it was not as complicated as they had thought. Six couples took the first step, and the enthusiasm for marriage blessings grew stronger after witnessing the beauty and simplicity of the ceremony.

Motivated by the success of this inaugural event, Pastor Kyere-Djan expressed gratitude to God and plans to organise similar mass weddings every six months to benefit more church members.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including the District Pastor’s Wife, the District Executive Committee Members, Officers, representatives of the District Chief Imam, the NPP Parliamentary Candidate, and many others.

A poignant memorial service was held today, Saturday, November 16, 2024, at the Jubilee Park in Koforidua, to honor the life and legacy of the late Pastor Fred Tete Obuobi, a retired minister of The Church of Pentecost and father of the General Secretary, Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi. The event, very well-attended, was a moment of reflection, gratitude, and celebration of a life dedicated to God’s service and the growth of the Church.

The service was chaired by Apostle Eric Nyamekye, Chairman of The Church of Pentecost in the presence of numerous ministers, both active and retired, who gathered to pay their respects. Tributes were read by family members and the Church, each speaking to the profound impact the late Pastor Obuobi had on their lives, as well as the ministry.

Pastor Fred Tete Obuobi, affectionately known as “Paa Kwabena,” was born on July 27, 1927, in Adukrom Akuapim. After answering the call to full-time ministry in 1962, he served in various capacities across the country, including in Asiakwa, Adeiso, Shama, Prestea, Asante Effiduasi, Asante Mampong, Saltpond, Aburi, and Akuapim Akropong. Pastor Obuobi’s contributions to the Church were immeasurable, from his tireless evangelistic efforts to his dedication to training and nurturing future leaders. He retired from active ministry in 1994, but continued to be involved in the Church’s activities, even after retirement.

As a humble man who lived out the values of hard work, contentment, and service, Pastor Obuobi left a lasting mark on both the Church and his family. His life was a testament to his deep faith and his belief in living a simple, godly life. He passed away peacefully on September 21, 2024, at the age of 97, after a brief period of preparing his family for his departure.

The emotional service featured tributes from Pastor Obuobi’s widow, Mrs. Gladys Obuobi, and their children. In a moving tribute, Mrs. Obuobi reflected on their 66 years of marriage, speaking of her husband’s unwavering love, dedication, and support. She fondly remembered their shared devotion to God, and how they faced life’s challenges together, always with faith and love. She expressed deep gratitude for the many years they had spent together, and thanked God for blessing her with such a faithful husband.

The tribute from the Obuobi children, read by Apostle Samuel Obuobi, was equally heartfelt. They spoke of the legacy of love, discipline, and faith their father left them. His teachings, which emphasized the importance of prayer, integrity, devotion to the word of God and contentment, continue to guide them. The family highlighted his role as both a spiritual leader and a devoted father who took a personal interest in each of their lives, guiding them with wisdom and compassion.

The General Council of The Church of Pentecost also paid tribute to Pastor Obuobi’s lifetime of service. In a tribute delivered by Apostle Emmanuel Agyemang Bekoe, the International Missions Director (IMD), the Council acknowledged Pastor Obuobi’s role in the growth of the Church, especially during difficult times when the Church faced challenges. His loyalty, passion for evangelism, and commitment to his calling were described as pillars that supported the ministry in Ghana and beyond.

During the service, Apostle Dr. Daniel Walker (Rtd.) delivered a powerful sermon titled “Where is your house?” using John 1:1-3 as the foundational text. The sermon emphasized the transient nature of earthly life and the believer’s hope in an eternal home with Christ. This resonated deeply with those in attendance, as it mirrored Pastor Obuobi’s own journey of faith and his readiness to meet his Maker after a life well-lived.

Pastor Obuobi’s life was one of simplicity and contentment. He did not seek riches or material gain, but instead found joy in serving others, both within his family and in the ministry. His humility and dedication to his calling set a powerful example for all who knew him.

As the service came to a close, the words from the General Council’s tribute echoed in the hearts of the attendees: “Heaven is rejoicing because a faithful servant of the Lord has been called home.” Pastor Fred Tete Obuobi’s legacy lives on through his family, his ministry, and the many lives he touched over the years.

May his soul rest in eternal peace.
