The newly-constructed church building of the Brenu Akyinim Assembly in the Essaman District of The Church of Pentecost has been dedicated to the glory of God. The colourful dedication ceremony took place on Wednesday, July 23, 2025.

The event was officiated by the Elmina Area Head, Apostle Lawrence Oduro-Nyarko, who expressed deep gratitude to God for the successful completion of the project. He described the achievement as “the doing of the Lord” and commended the Church’s leadership for their continued support.

Apostle Oduro-Nyarko thanked the Chairman of the Church and the Executive Council for their consistent release of grants to support local assemblies, a move he said has significantly reduced the number of congregations worshipping under trees and in classrooms.

Delivering an exhortation on the theme “You Are the Temple of God”, Apostle Oduro-Nyarko encouraged believers to honour God with their bodies, which he described as temples of the Holy Spirit. Quoting from 1 Corinthians 6:15-20 and Leviticus 10:1-2, he drew parallels between the Old Testament temple and the New Testament believer, urging Christians to live lives of holiness, worship, sacrifice, and service.

He emphasised the need for personal devotion as a means of drawing closer to God, and outlined practical steps for honouring God with one’s body, including presenting oneself as a living sacrifice, practising the presence of God, engaging in continual praise, and surrendering fully to the will of God.

“We must consciously put to death behaviours that defile the temple and dare to be the temple that God desires,” he said.

As part of the ceremony, the Presiding Elder of the Assembly, Elder Julius Korsah, recounted the history of the church. He noted that the Brenu Akyinim Assembly began in 1989 with just ten members, following an altar call at a funeral service led by the late Pastor Michael Nkrumah Wiredu. The assembly faced early setbacks and was revived in 1991 through the efforts of returnees from Liberia and Côte d’Ivoire, whose evangelistic work led to new converts.

Initially, members worshipped in a classroom in Brenu Akyinim but were later ejected. They then acquired a piece of land and constructed a temporary shed from palm fronds. Though they began constructing a permanent building, the project stalled after the foundation was laid due to a lack of funds.

In 2018, under the leadership of Pastor Benjamin Dapaah, the Church Headquarters released a grant of GHS 40,000 for the construction of a Community-Based Church Building (CBCB). However, financial challenges again delayed the project until Apostle Oduro-Nyarko assumed office and responded to a renewed request for support from the District Minister, Pastor Prince Augustine Ababio. The Area subsequently provided additional funding, enabling the completion and dedication of the building.

Pastor Ababio expressed profound appreciation to former Cape Coast Area Heads, Apostles David Terkperh and Samuel Yaw Antwi, for their contributions. He also acknowledged the efforts of former District Ministers—Pastors Isaac Kingsford Effisah, Ernest Cecil Okoi, Benjamin Dapaah, and Henry Adu Obuobi—and their wives, the District Presbytery, Estate Committee Members, artisans, and members of the Brenu Akyinim Assembly for their collective support.

The Church of Pentecost in Germany has successfully held the maiden edition of its WOPEM Conference from Friday, July 18 to Sunday, July 20, 2025, at the Wandsbek Sporthalle in Hamburg.

The three-day event, which brought together members from across the country, was held under the theme “Unleashed to Live a Life Worthy of Your Calling.” It was convened under the leadership of Apostle Daniel Ato Eduah, the National Head of the Church in Germany.

In his opening address, Apostle Eduah underscored the significant role that the various ministries have played in nurturing the Church in Germany. He, however, stressed the need for a more integrated and holistic approach to ministry, urging members to view the Church not as segmented departments but as one unified body, with every believer uniquely called and equipped for Kingdom service.

He explained that the WOPEM Conference was a strategic initiative aimed at empowering and equipping believers—regardless of age or ministry group—to identify their value and role in the Church. According to him, the conference was also designed to bridge generational and departmental gaps and align the Church’s efforts with the Possessing the Nations agenda and Vision 2028.

Apostle Eduah outlined the key objectives of the conference, which included: helping members appreciate their identity in Christ, encouraging a broader view of ministry beyond specific groups, offering tailored training, and providing ministry tools for effective service based on individual spiritual gifts and talents. He added that the conference also aimed to address local congregational challenges, offer focus sessions on pressing issues, and promote socio-economic empowerment among members.

Throughout the event, participants were engaged through various word ministrations and empowerment sessions. One of the highlights was a session focused on youth engagement, where young people were encouraged to take active roles in both church and society. They were reminded that they are not only the future but also the present of the Church, and were urged not to let their age be a limitation.

On the final day, the congregation was challenged to remain faithful to their divine calling and to view their workplace and daily environments as platforms for ministry.

The conference featured a number of guest speakers and gospel ministers including Apostle Sampson Ofori Yiadom (National Head, Italy), Apostle Abraham Arthur (National Head, France), Apostle Jabis Osei Kwame (National Head, Czech Republic), Pastor John Angoh (Netherlands), as well as gospel artistes Diana Hamilton, Deaconess Akua Serwaa Bonsu, and Deaconess Nana Akyinba Duodo.

The maiden WOPEM Conference ended on a high note, with renewed commitment among members to serve God faithfully and impact society through their unique callings.

The Atebubu Ahenfie District in the Atebubu Area of The Church of Pentecost has organised its maiden mass marriage blessing service for sixteen couples.

The colourful event took place on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the Atebubu Ahenfie Central Auditorium.

The ceremony was well attended by members of the Church, non-members within the Atebubu-Amantin Municipality and its environs, relatives of the couples, and friends from nearby communities.

Also in attendance were the Area Head, Apostle Isaac Amartey Anim; Pastor Titus Oni Kwarteng and his wife (Low Cost District); Pastor Emmanuel Ofori Poku (Highways District); Pastor George Narh Obodai and his wife (Kyeamekrom District); Pastor Wilson Kwasi Boakye-Yiadom and his wife (Akokoa District); Mrs. Abigail Okyei Boakye (wife of the Atebubu Ahenfie District Minister); and Elder Anthony Afari, the Area Deacon.

In his remarks, the Atebubu Ahenfie District Minister, Pastor Daniel Okyei Boakye, stated that the purpose of the event was to help couples regularise their marriages and enable them to enjoy the full privileges that come with it.

Delivering a sermon on the theme “Accept Marriage as a Calling,” Pastor George Narh Obodai encouraged the couples to view marriage as a divine calling and to fulfil God’s purpose for this sacred institution. He urged them to walk in love, demonstrate mutual respect, and cultivate spiritual unity in their marriages, living in a way that reflects the Kingdom of God.

He concluded by stating, “Just as people are called into full-time ministry, marriage must be viewed, accepted, and entered into with the understanding that each party has been called to serve in it by living lives worthy of this calling.”

The ceremony was marked by joyful songs, dancing, photography, and warm congratulations.

After three decades of estimable service to God and humanity, Pastor Solomon Abunyan and Mrs Mercy Odame, the Tarkwa District Minister in the Suame Area of The Church of Pentecost, have retired from active ministry.

A very colourful and well-attended retirement service was held in honour of the indefatigable servant and his wife on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at the Mercy Temple, the Tarkwa Central Assembly church auditorium, in Kumasi.

The service, which was officiated by Apostle John Obeng Kesse, the Suame Area Head, drew people from almost all the districts Pastor Odame has pastored, as well as ministers of the church and their wives, family, and beneficiaries of his enviable service, among other loved ones.

Having gladly responded to the call to service in the full-time ministry of The Church of Pentecost in 1995, Pastor Solomon Odame and his wife, Mrs Mercy Odame were first posted to Banso District, Konongo Area of the Ashanti Region, where they served for six years, between 1995 and 2001. They then proceeded to Manso Atwere District under Obuasi Area, from 2001 to 2007. Transfer then took them to Ejisu Newtown District in 2007 as their third station.

After a successful six years of service at Ejisu, Pastor Odame was posted to Chapel Square District in the Agona Swedru Area from 2013 to 2018, before being brought back to Obuasi Area, this time as District Minister for Estate District, from 2018 to 2022. He was then transferred to Tarkwa District in the Suame Area in 2022, which happened to be his sixth and final station, completing three decades of glorious service to God and humanity.

In a heartfelt tribute eulogising his character and legacy as a minister of God, the Tarkwa District Presbytery described Pastor Odame as a minister with ‘a very calm and composed posture,’ who was ‘never in haste to act or react to any issue, respected both the old and young, loved everyone, and maintained cordial relations with all his officers and members.’

Reflecting on his distinctive leadership style, the Presbytery further described him as ‘a teacher of the Word and an ardent exegete of the Scriptures.’

The General Council admitted that Pastor Odame’s 30-year ministry has been a beacon of hope, comfort, and guidance to all who have been blessed to know him.

Delivering the sermon at the retirement service, under the theme, ‘Unleashed to Finish Well for Greater Reward,’ Pastor Justice Appiah Afful, the District Minister for Bremang, encouraged all believers and attendees to seek God in every aspect of their lives, during challenging moments in their Christian journey, assuring them that they would find peace in Him.

Drawing from the Scriptures in 2 Chronicles 15:1–7 (with emphasis on verse 7), 2 Chronicles 8:10–11, 2 Chronicles 14:11–12 and verse 6, as well as Colossians 4:17, he urged believers to emulate the example of King Asa, who, in the difficult times of his reign, sought the Lord, cried out to Him, and commanded the people of Judah to do likewise, an act that brought divine intervention and peace. Just as King Asa did what was right in the sight of God, Pastor Afful further exhorted believers to shun ungodly lifestyles in their marriages, ministries, and other areas of life, and to establish an unbreakable covenant with God for holistic peace.

The soon-to-be Offinso Area Head emphasised that unwavering dependence on God enables believers to perfectly fulfil their divine assignments both in the Lord and on earth, guiding them through even the most impenetrable paths in life’s journey.

He concluded his sermon with an affectionate plea to Pastor Solomon Abunyan Odame and his wife, Mrs Mercy Odame, urging them not to waver in their total reliance on the Lord, as that remains the only way to finish the journey completely and faithfully.

On Sunday, July 27, 2025, the Kpone District, in collaboration with the Tema Area of The Church of Pentecost, held a glorious retirement service in honour of Pastor Robert Ofori-Agyemang and Mrs Dorcas Ewuraba Ofori-Agyemang, marking the end of 32 remarkable years of full-time ministry in the church.

The event was officiated by Apostle Isaac Nii Kotei Djani, the Tema Area Head and Executive Council Member, ably assisted by Pastor Dr Suleman De-Graft Issaka, the Tema Area Secretary and the entire pastorate of Tema Area.

Present at the service were distinguished personalities and leaders of the church, including Apostle Dr Edward Koranteng and Mama Freda Koranteng, Medical Director of Pentecost Hospital, Madina; Apostle Emmanuel Appiah and his wife, Evangelism Director of The Church of Pentecost; Apostle Ekow Badu-Wood (retd), among others.

Also present were traditional leaders from the Kpone township and surrounding communities.

Delivering a spirit-filled sermon, Apostle Isaac Nii Kotei Djani expounded on the theme, ‘And God Was With Him,’ drawing from Acts 10:37–38. He explained that God’s presence is the ultimate determinant of a successful life and ministry. From the lives of Jesus, Joseph, and others, five key merits were shared: divine favour, supernatural protection, acceptance before God, prosperity in adversity, and divine backing for ministry.

He challenged the church to prioritise acceptance by God over mere spiritual gifts, saying, ‘It is not enough to operate in the gifts of the Holy Spirit. To me, the most important thing is to be accepted by God.’

The gathering was a grand blend of honour, gratitude, and spiritual celebration. There was an overwhelming outpouring of love, testimonies, and joyful music as Pastor Robert Ofori-Agyemang and his wife were celebrated for their dedication, humility, and kingdom impact.

Born on August 16, 1960, Pastor Robert encountered Christ and was baptised in 1980. He was called to full-time ministry in 1993, and for the past 32 years, he has served faithfully in multiple districts, namely Gomoa Afransie – Agona Swedru Area, Aworowa – Techiman Area, Akuase – Nkawkaw Area, Wassa Simpa – Tarkwa Area, Manso Datano – Asante Bekwai Area, Akuajoo – Nkawkaw Area, and Kpone – Tema Area

As he and his dear wife retire from active ministry, their legacy echoes loudly in the lives they have touched, the churches they have nurtured, and the communities they have transformed.

The retirement service was not just a farewell; it was a celebration of a life poured out for the Gospel.

The glory of God was tangibly present throughout the service, affirming His delight in the faithful work of His servants.

The retirement service for Pastor Godfred Kwadzo and Mrs Esther Okwan was a poignant celebration of a life dedicated to serving the Lord and the community.

Held on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at Ngleshie-Amanfro Central church in the Downtown-Ofaakor Area of The Church of Pentecost, the service brought together church members, community leaders, and friends to honour 35 years of dedicated ministry of the couple.

Pastor Godfred Okwan was called to the full-time ministry of The Church of Pentecost in 1990 and served in Akatsi District, Dzodze District, Konongo District, Dormaa Ahenbrono District, Suhum Newtown District, Assin Akropong District, and finally Ngleshie-Amanfro District.

Apostle William Kojo Edzorhoho, Area Head for Downtown-Ofaakor, delivered a sermon on the topic, ‘Fulfil Your Ministry,’ highlighting the need for believers to execute their assigned duties with the end in mind. Drawing from 2 Timothy 4:1-8 and John 15:16, he encouraged believers to put into effect exactly what is required of them to the fullest and to finish their mandate like Jesus did.

The service was filled with joy and gratitude as the congregation celebrated Pastor Okwan’s ministry. Key moments, achievements, and impacts on both the church and the wider community were highlighted through various testimonials and presentations.

The Ngleshie-Amanfro Women’s Ministry eulogised Mrs Esther Okwan for her steadfast dedication to the ministry and her absolute support to her family and her husband’s call.

The District Presbytery also gave their commendation of Pastor Okwan for his meritorious work done in the district, then the Downtown-Ofaakor Area Pastorate also added their voice to the yeoman’s job Pastor Okwan and his wife have done in propagating the Gospel and the agenda of the church of God.

The General Council of The Church of Pentecost shared heartfelt reflections, acknowledging Pastor Godfred and Mrs Esther Okwan’s commitment, leadership, and the lasting legacy they leave behind.

In a touching address, Pastor Godfred Kwadzo Okwan shared insights into their journey, expressing profound thanks for the support received over the years. They also looked forward to the next chapter in their life, inspiring hope and anticipation among the attendees.

The service was marked by a strong turnout from church members, community leaders, and friends. The atmosphere was both reflective and celebratory, perfectly capturing the essence of honouring a dedicated servant of God.

The South Suntreso District of the Bompata Area of The Church of Pentecost, in a spirit-filled and colourful service, officially retired Pastor Daniel Nii Okaija Sackey after 26 years of dedicated and impactful ministry.

The retirement ceremony took place at the Shalom auditorium, on Sunday, July 27, 2025. The well-attended service drew a host of dignitaries, including ministers and members of the church from various areas and districts, reflecting the selfless service of Pastor Sackey.

Notable among the attendees were two incoming Executive Council members, Apostles Peter Kofi Dzemekey and Dr Philip Osei-Korsah, who graced the occasion with their presence and support.

The sermon was delivered by the Bompata Area Head, Apostle Victor Kwasi Asamoah, who spoke under the theme, ‘Finish the Work God Has Assigned to You for Eternal Reward.’

Citing his main scripture references from Ecclesiastes 7:8, Galatians 3:3, 2 Timothy 4:7, and 1 Corinthians 15:58, Apostle Asamoah charged believers, especially church leaders, not to lose steam in the middle of their Christian journey.

‘It is not how you start but how you finish that matters,” he stressed, while encouraging all Christians to remain steadfast, faithful, and diligent in the various roles and responsibilities assigned to them within the church, knowing that God rewards endurance and faithfulness.

Highlighting the importance of honouring retired ministers, Apostle Asamoah urged the church to show continued love and appreciation to pastors who have completed their active service, saying, ‘Retirement in ministry is not an end, but rather a release from active duties; pastors remain pastors until their final breath.’

In an exclusive interview, Pastor Daniel Nii Okaija Sackey expressed deep gratitude to God and the South Suntreso District for the love, support, and cooperation shown to him throughout his four years as their district minister. He described his 26-year journey as one filled with excitement and divine fulfillment.

He humbly called on the members to extend the same love and loyalty to his successor, trusting that the work of God will continue to flourish under any minister who succeeds him.

The event was characterised by heartfelt tributes, presentation of gifts, and a general atmosphere of joy and thanksgiving as the church celebrated a servant of God who has faithfully run his race and finished well.

In 1999, Pastor Sackey and his beloved wife, Mrs Mary Sackey, made a life-changing decision by responding to the call to enter the full-time ministry with The Church of Pentecost. The faithfully served in various capacities and stations, including Wassa Atobiase District (1999-2004), Mankessim South District (2004-2006), Ketan Assembly (2006-2008), while serving as the PENSA Travelling Secretary for Western Region; PIWC Takoradi (2008-2011), PIWC Accra, Kokomlemle (2011-2016), Ashaiman Bethlehem District (2016-2021), and finally, South Suntreso District (2021-2025).

Pastor Sackey’s versatility and dedication also earned him a place on the Youth Ministry National Executive Committee (NEC), where he served two terms: first from 1996 to 1999, and later from 2012 to 2020. His long-standing service makes him one of the ministry’s longest-serving NEC members. He is, especially, recognised for his significant contributions to the reforms that transformed the Youth Ministry.

The Bokro District in the Atonsu Area of The Church of Pentecost has held a grand retirement service in honour of Pastor Samuel Kissi Agyekum and his wife, Mrs Eunice Kissi Agyekum, marking the end of 28 years of dedicated ministry.

The ceremony, which took place at the Bokro Central Assembly on Sunday, July 27, 2025, was officiated by Apostle Yaw Adjei-Kwarteng, Coordinator of the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Committee of the church. He was ably supported by Apostle Gideon Obeng Darko Debrah, Area Head of Atonsu. The event drew a large gathering of clergy, church officers, family members, friends, and well-wishers.

Delivering a sermon titled ‘The Prayer Reflections: Conclusions of King David,’ Apostle Adjei-Kwarteng drew from Psalm 71:9 and Psalm 37:25 to reflect on the uncertainties of old age and the introspections that accompany it. Using King David as a case study, he highlighted God’s providence and protection throughout David’s life, referencing Psalm 22:9 to illustrate how divine favour was present even before David was aware of it.

He recounted David’s journey from his rejection and solitude as a shepherd boy, through his anointing by Prophet Samuel, his triumph over Goliath, and his eventual rise to kingship, revealing that God’s hand was evident throughout.

Apostle Adjei-Kwarteng noted that as David aged and grew physically weaker, he was compelled to withdraw from military service, symbolising the onset of retirement, a reality that ministers of God also face, often questioning whether God remains with them.

He encouraged ministers to gracefully step down from active service when strength wanes, acknowledging the challenges that come with ministry, including health, social, and psychological trials. Yet, he reassured that God remains faithful and will never forsake His servants.

To Pastor Kissi Agyekum, he offered words of inspiration, urging him to continue trusting in the Lord in his later years, affirming that God will not abandon him, even when his strength fails.

Testimonies were read by the District Women’s Ministry, the District Presbytery, Atonsu Area Ministers and the General Council of The Church of Pentecost. These were followed by the presentation of citations in recognition of the couple’s service.

Pastor Samuel and Mrs Eunice Kissi Agyekum, who served in six stations, namely Sefwi Juaboso, Akim Asuom, Tanokrom, Labone, New Achimota, and Atonsu Bokro, took to the platform with their family and loved ones to express gratitude to God for sustaining them through 28 years of ministry.

He also extended heartfelt thanks to his family, church leadership, and the wider Christian community for their support throughout his ministerial journey.

Prayers were offered for the couple, after which the officiating minister formally declared Pastor Kissi Agyekum retired.

Among the dignitaries present were Nana Yaw Agyabeng, Adagya Banmuhene; Nana Adoma III, Bekwai Pepedan Kontihemaa; Nana Okyere Antwi Boasiako II, Asuoho Amakomhene; and Inspector Mavis Boateng, representing the Asokwa Police Commander.
