Strategise And Move The Missions Enterprise With Great Courage – Apostle Nyamekye

The Missions Board of The Church of Pentecost began its annual meeting on Tuesday, February 17, 2025, with a call to action from the Chairman, Apostle Eric Nyamekye.

Speaking on the theme, ‘Possessing Canaan,’ Apostle Nyamekye urged the board to intensify efforts in expanding the church’s missions work and to push beyond its current frontiers with unwavering faith and strategic planning.

Drawing inspiration from Numbers 32 and Deuteronomy 7:1, 22-23, he emphasised that just as God had promised the Israelites the land despite the opposition they faced, He has also promised the nations to the church. He, therefore, challenged the board members to fully dedicate themselves to the mission, actively engaging with communities and solving complex challenges as God has ordained them to do.

Apostle Nyamekye cautioned against complacency in missions advancement, stating that the work is far from complete, saying, ‘No one should say we have settled in this missions advancement work; we must continue to support one another and move forward together.’

He further stressed the need for a well-structured and strategic approach to missions expansion. As the church transitions from an international to a truly global mission, he called on all stakeholders to be actively involved.

‘We are expanding, and we must be ready to go to the people and hold the nations together,’ he said.

Encouraging the board members, Apostle Nyamekye reassured them that God would provide the necessary resources for the expansion of the mission. He urged them not to be afraid of the vision, reminding them that ‘God expects us to be strategic in our approach by effectively managing the land we have conquered.’

The Chairman highlighted the importance of established mission nations supporting smaller ones, fostering collective growth and progress.

‘The nations that have grown bigger must not leave the smaller ones behind. Instead, they should continue to provide leadership and guidance for their advancement,’ he admonished.

Expressing gratitude for the board’s exceptional leadership, Apostle Nyamekye commended them for their dedication in upholding the mission of the church. He concluded with a resounding charge: ‘Be strategic and courageous in your moves, for our God is with you.’

The annual Missions Board meeting continues, with key discussions centred on reinforcing the global impact of The Church of Pentecost’s missionary work.

Apostle Nene Amegatcher Goes Home

A memorial service has been held in honour of the late Apostle Nene Ahorlu Ofoe Amegatcher, a retired minister of The Church of Pentecost. The service took place on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at the Accra College of Education Park.

The service, officiated by the General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, was attended by high-profile personalities, including Hon. Sam Okudjeto, former Council of State member; Bafour Kwame Kusi II, Otumfour’s Ankobeahene, and others.

Apostle Dr Lord Elorm Donkor, the UK National Head of The Church of Pentecost, delivered an encouraging sermon on the theme, ‘Grace Abounds.’

In his sermon, Apostle Dr Elorm Donkor reflected on the profound impact of grace in the face of life’s trials and tribulations. He noted that attending a funeral often brings a moment of introspection and anxiety, especially regarding one’s health and mortality. However, he reassured believers that there is abundant grace available to navigate life’s challenges.

He stated, ‘God foreknew whatever will happen to us and so made a provision in Jesus Christ to be able to go through all our troubles. This provision is Grace.’

He further explained that grace is not limited by personal status; rather, it is essential for everyone.

‘Without Christ, nobody can navigate through this complex world,’ he said, highlighting that all individuals will eventually face needs that can only be met through God’s grace. He urged mourners to recognise that grace provides sufficient gifts from God to overcome earthly challenges.

Apostle Dr Donkor also called upon unbelievers to seek Jesus and the grace of God, reminding them that life extends beyond earthly existence. He encouraged all present to reflect on their spiritual journey and the importance of grace in their lives.

God Permits Challenges To Manifest His Glory – Pastor Nyame Discloses

The National Coordinator for the Ministry to Persons with Disabilities (MPWDs) of The Church of Pentecost, Pastor Alexander Nyame, emphasised that God, in His sovereignty, sometimes allows challenges, including disabilities, to manifest His glory.

He explained that these circumstances can occur due to God’s direct will or His permissive will, where He allows events to unfold for a greater purpose.

He made these remarks on Thursday, February 13, 2025, during a presentation on the topic: ‘Sovereignty and Disability’ at the opening session of the ‘Beyond Suffering’ training, spearheaded by Joni & Friends, a multinational Non-Governmental Organisation.

Pastor Nyame began by likening sovereignty to kingship, emphasising that just as earthly kings possess the authority to command and be obeyed, God’s sovereignty signifies His supreme power and authority over all creation.

Drawing from John 9:3, Pastor Nyame highlighted that disabilities are not beyond God’s knowledge or control. He explained that in all situations, God’s profound love for humanity remains evident.

Pastor Nyame further elaborated that God’s sovereignty encompasses His omnipresence and omniscience, saying, ‘He knows each individual intimately, even from the womb. Sometimes, God permits challenges, including disabilities, to manifest His glory and fulfill His divine purposes.’

Referencing 1 Corinthians 1:26-31, he urged participants to provide space for individuals with disabilities to be instruments of God’s will, emphasising that God’s power, purpose, and plan are intricately connected.

Pastor Nyame concluded by reminding participants that God’s sovereign plan is always at work, leading us through various experiences to achieve His divine purposes. He encouraged the church community to recognise and embrace the unique roles that individuals with disabilities play in God’s overarching plan.

Kintampo Area Dedicates 10 Church Buildings

As part of an initiative to enhance church infrastructure and provide decent places of worship for local assemblies, the Kintampo Area of The Church of Pentecost completed and dedicated 10 new church buildings in 2024.

The Kintampo Area, classified as a Missions Area, has many assemblies without permanent places of worship, with some congregations holding services in classrooms or under trees. Recognising the need to address this infrastructural deficit, the Area Head, Apostle Francis Agyemang Badu, launched an ambitious drive to construct church buildings for these assemblies, with support from the church’s Headquarters.

The construction was made possible through grants from the Headquarters, Area grants, the AIDF, as well as contributions from the respective districts and some individuals. The buildings were completed within the calendar year, despite facing various challenges.

The newly dedicated church buildings include Subinso Central, Jema Central, Jema Nkwanta Central, Kunsu Central, and Community-Based Church Buildings (CBCBs) in Kwamape, Benim, Dumso, Korpedekeh, and Number 6.

Some of the projects had been pending for nearly a decade but were finally completed thanks to the grace of God, and the collective efforts of the church’s headquarters, district ministers, and their members.

Mampong Area MPWDs Donates Wheelchair To Physically Challenged

The Mampong Area of The Church of Pentecost, led by Area Head Apostle Samuel Kwabena Asare, has donated a wheelchair to Madam Hannah Mansa, a member of the Abrakaso Assembly in the Agona District.

The kind gesture originated during Apostle Asare’s Christmas visit to needy and vulnerable families in the area. During his visit to Madam Mansa’s home, he noticed her wheelchair was in very poor condition.

Recognising that this was her only means of transportation and considering the long distance she travels to the church for fellowship, Apostle Asare was moved to provide her with a new wheelchair. Under the auspices of the Ministry to Persons with Disabilities (MPWDs), led by Area Coordinator Pastor Richard Asare-Drah, the wheelchair was promptly procured.

The wheelchair was presented during the Area’s 2024 End-of-Year Presbytery Meeting on Friday, January 31, 2025, at MAAT, Mampong. Madam Mansa was moved to tears and full of gratitude to the Church for the timely support.

Apostle Asare remarked that the Church has consistently supported its members in various ways, saying, ‘The Church of Pentecost at all levels will continue to provide financial and material support to its cherished members where necessary.’

He added: ‘The financial statement for the 2024 reporting year shows that the Area, along with the 23 Districts, supported members with a total of GH₵ 224,497.00 in various forms of assistance.’

The support provided to members and communities included medical aid, educational scholarships, business support, and social services.

Apostle Asare also informed the Area Presbytery that plans were underway to provide prosthetics for Kwadwo Boateng, Madam Mansa’s son, who also faces mobility challenges.

Living Your Faith In Public Is Non-Negotiable - Pastor Mathias Wornu web

Living Your Faith In Public Is Non-Negotiable – Pastor Mathias Wornu

Pastor Mathias Wornu, the Resident Minister for the Estate Worship Centre, has emphasised that the act of Christians expressing and practicing their faith in Christ Jesus openly and without compromise is a necessity, not an option.

During a presentation titled “Living Your Faith in the Public Sphere,” at the New Tafo Area Officers’ Retreat on Friday, February 7, 2025, held at the M. K. Yeboah Memorial Temple in the New Tafo Zone, he highlighted the responsibility of Christians to uphold the faith they have received in Christ Jesus.

“Living your faith in public is non-negotiable. As Christians, we have the responsibility to defend our faith, not with weapons, but by living it,” stressed.

Pastor Wornus, who is also the Chaplain of the Pentecost Senior High School (PENSEC) in Kumasi, referenced Matthew 5:16 and 2 Corinthians 8:20-21 to emphasise that Christians are required to demonstrate their faith publicly, debunking the notion that “Christianity is in the heart.”

“Don’t hide your faith; be proud of it and express it,” he said, underscoring the significance of Christians showcasing their faith in their various spheres such as family interactions, politics, public service, and business to inspire others to embrace belief in Christ Jesus.

He pointed out that, unlike other religions identifiable by their adornments, Christianity is distinguished by the good deeds and character of Christians and how they live out their faith.

Citing Romans 2:17-24, he admonished the participants to sidestep behaviours that could hinder others from finding Jesus.

In conclusion, Pastor Mathias Wornu mentioned biblical figures who courageously lived out their faith despite facing challenges, urging Christians, especially church leaders, not to shy away from their faith in the face of persecution.

Live Worthy of Your Calling – Apostle Obuobi Charges Believers web

Live Worthy of Your Calling – Apostle Obuobi Charges Believers

Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, the General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, has emphasized the divine nature of the Christian calling, stating that believers are not called by a mere man or human institution but by God Himself—the Creator of the heavens and the earth.

He described this calling as a divine appointment, a heavenly selection, and a consecration for a purpose greater than oneself. Comparing it to an earthly king summoning someone for an assignment, he underscored the urgency and honour attached to responding to God’s call.

Apostle Obuobi made these remarks during the opening session of the 2024 End-of-Year National Report Reading and Meetings for All Ministries of The Church of Pentecost on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Gomoa Fetteh. He spoke on the theme “A Call to a Life Worthy of Your Calling,” based on Ephesians 4:1.

Quoting 1 Peter 2:9 (ESV), he reminded the congregation that believers are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, and God’s special possession, called to proclaim His excellencies. He emphasized that every profession—be it a teacher, trader, doctor, student, or pastor—does not exempt anyone from this divine calling.

In his sermon, Apostle Obuobi highlighted that the calling comes with great responsibility, requiring a life that aligns with its worthiness. Referring to Ephesians 4:1 (MSG), he pointed out two key revelations.

First, he explained that each calling has a specific road assigned to it. He warned against straying onto paths of compromise, worldliness, and lukewarm Christianity, urging believers to remain focused and true to their divine mandate.

Second, he stressed the need for urgency, emphasizing that there is no time to waste. According to him, this is the hour to be vigilant, prayerful, and fully committed to the path God has set before His people.

Apostle Obuobi cautioned that not all roads lead to eternal life, referencing Matthew 7:13-14, where Jesus declared that the way to life is narrow and only a few find it. He reiterated that God has a standard, which cannot be lowered to suit human weaknesses. He admonished believers that following Jesus while holding on to worldly ways is impossible because God requires holiness.

Expounding on the necessity of holiness, Apostle Obuobi quoted 1 Thessalonians 4:7 (MSG): “God hasn’t invited us into a disorderly, unkempt life but into something holy and beautiful—as beautiful on the inside as the outside.” He emphasized that God did not merely repair believers but made them new creations.

According to him, the evidence of holiness includes a life of love, patience, forgiveness, faithfulness, and purity, as well as a heart set apart for God. He quoted Ezekiel 43:12 (NLT), stating that holiness is not occasional or partial but absolute, and without holiness, no one will see God (Hebrews 12:14, MSG).

Apostle Obuobi also outlined the four key pillars of the 2025 theme of The Church of Pentecost:

  • The Glory of the Lord Must Remain in the Church Forever – He stressed the need to guard and preserve God’s presence for generations to come.
  • Living Worthy of Our Calling Retains God’s Glory – He noted that a compromised church is powerless, but holiness preserves divine glory.
  • Absolute Holiness is the Standard of God – He stated that holiness must be total, not selective or occasional.
  • Our Lives Must Cause People to Praise God – Drawing from Paul’s testimony in Galatians 1:24, he encouraged believers to live in a way that causes others to glorify God.

In conclusion, Apostle Obuobi issued a passionate call to revival, urging believers to reject complacency and embrace a life of power, holiness, and unwavering commitment to their calling. He declared that heaven is watching, the world is observing, and even hell is trembling as a new generation rises—one that refuses to compromise.

He then called on all present to rise and pray in response to this divine charge.

MPWDs Introduce ‘Beyond Suffering Training’ In Togo

The Ministry to Persons with Disabilities (MPWDs) of The Church of Pentecost, in collaboration with Joni and Friends, a multinational non-governmental organisation, has launched the ‘Beyond Suffering Training’ for Église de Pentecôte Internationale du Togo. This initiative aims to train individuals on ethical methods to support Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).

The ‘Beyond Suffering’ course, organised by Joni & Friends, is a comprehensive programme that provides an overview of the theological and practical underpinnings of disability ministry. It aims to equip participants to think critically, compassionately, and clearly about the complex issues impacting people with disabilities and their families, enabling them to confidently bring the love of Christ to these individuals.

The training commenced on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at the CIAP – Yokoe in Lomé, Togo, and is scheduled to conclude on Friday.

In his opening address, Apostle Lare Banimpo, Executive Council Member of The Church of Pentecost who doubles as the National Head of the church in Togo, emphasised the importance of embracing and ministering to individuals living with disabilities. Citing 2 Samuel 9:3, he highlighted the biblical narrative where King David sought to show God’s kindness to Mephibosheth, who was disabled.

Apostle Banimpo urged Christians to recognise that, despite physical impairments, individuals with disabilities share the same hearts and humanity. He reminded the church of its mandate to reach out to all, including those with disabilities, underscoring that the Lord desires their salvation as well.

Complementing this message, Mr Donald Mugisha of Joni & Friends, introduced the ‘Beyond Suffering Training,’ a comprehensive training programme designed to equip individuals and churches to effectively minister to PWDs. He emphasised the necessity of engaging with PWDs, sharing the message of Christ, and actively reaching out within communities.

Dr Ashley Mugisha, also associated with Joni & Friends, elaborated on the concept of disability, defining it as any impairment—psychological or physiological—that can occur due to injury or birth. She pointed out that disabilities often result in barriers that hinder individuals from full societal participation, many of which are inadvertently created by non-disabled individuals and systemic structures in education, healthcare, and recreation.

Dr Mugisha advocated for respectful communication, urging people to address individuals with disabilities by their given names and to learn appropriate ways to refer to and interact with them.

Also present were Pastor Alexander Nyame (National Coordinator, MPWDs); Pastor Joel Quansah (Ghana Country Director, Joni & Friends); and several pastors from Église de Pentecôte Internationale du Togo.

The initiative aligns with The Church of Pentecost’s Vision 2028, which includes a focus on the Ministry to Persons with Disabilities. The MPWDs seeks to build a strong ministry to PWDs through effective evangelism and discipleship, as well as create an enabling environment to promote their spiritual, emotional, and personal growth in order to impact the church, their communities, and nations.
