The Bulenga District in the Wa Area, The Church of Pentecost, has donated school uniforms and learning materials valued at GH¢17,000 to pupils of Jongfian R/C Primary School in the Wa East Municipality, reaffirming its commitment to community development and educational support.
The donation, which took place on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, included 150 school uniforms, 200 exercise books, 150 pencils, 150 erasers, 30 pens, and other educational materials aimed at enhancing teaching and learning in the school.
The initiative was inspired by the District Minister, Overseer Matthew Nuorjie, who identified the need during a pastoral visit to the Jongfian community. He observed that several schoolchildren were attending classes without proper uniforms, a situation that moved him to seek support for the affected pupils.
In line with The Church of Pentecost’s Vision 2028 agenda of “Possessing the Nations” through transformational impact, Overseer Nuorjie presented the concern to the District Executive Committee, which unanimously embraced and supported the intervention.
To mobilise resources for the project, Overseer Nuorjie engaged Deaconess Nana Kofi Abuna V, Chief of the Essipon-Sekondi Traditional Council, who generously sponsored the production of 150 school uniforms at a cost of GH¢15,000.
Additionally, Deaconess Gloria Wiredu, based in New York, USA, donated exercise books, pencils, erasers, pens, and other learning materials valued at GH¢2,000.
The combined contributions brought the total value of the support package to GH¢17,000, providing much-needed relief to pupils and their families.
Speaking during the presentation ceremony, church leaders noted that the donation forms part of the Church’s broader mission of demonstrating the love of Christ through practical interventions that address societal needs.
Receiving the items on behalf of the school, the Headmaster of Jongfian R/C Primary School expressed profound gratitude to The Church of Pentecost, Bulenga District, and the benefactors for their generosity. Similar appreciation was conveyed by the Assembly Member, representatives of the District Directorate of Education, traditional leaders, parents, and members of the community.
Beneficiary pupils described the support as timely and impactful, saying it would boost their confidence, improve school attendance, and enhance their academic performance.
The gesture underscores The Church of Pentecost’s unwavering commitment to transforming lives and communities through practical expressions of Christian values and social responsibility.
