Pastor Frank Awuah Fordjour, the Crusades Coordinator for the Evangelism Ministry of The Church of Pentecost, has advised church leaders to adopt a holistic approach to evangelism to make the Gospel relevant, productive, and fruitful in contemporary times.
Pastor Frank Awuah gave this advice during his presentation on the topic “Holistic Evangelism Approach to Possess the Nations” in the morning session of the ongoing “Togo for Christ” crusade on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at the CIAP-Yokoe auditorium.
“The global evangelisation drive of the Christian Church in this post-modern era is confronted with many challenges such as secularisation and urbanisation. Therefore, there is a need for new approaches and efforts in the practical proclamation of the gospel,” he said.
According to him, renewed ways and strategies are essential for reaching out with the gospel of salvation to urbanised, secularised, and post-modern societies, as well as rural, remote, and developing areas.
“Other relevant challenges include finding workable ways of reaching out to some minority or specialised groups, which require specialised training,” he added.
He further proposed a model for undertaking a holistic outreach, outlining the following steps: intercessory fasting and prayers, scouting the area where outreach is to take place, developing an outreach proposal indicating the objectives and targets of the outreach, mobilising teams and equipment for the outreach, dispatching an advance team to the outreach area ahead of the scheduled period, publicising the event, post-crusade follow-up on new converts, and budget and fund mobilisation.
He emphasised that following this model would ensure the effective organisation of the crusade and the full integration of new converts won into the church.
