A 35-year-old man, Kojo Awortwi alias “Scorpion,” has surrendered his life to Jesus Christ during a 5-day power-packed rally organised by the Obokrom District in the Sekondi Area of The Church of Pentecost.
Kojo claimed to have been possessed by an evil spirit at the age of eleven, having inherited it from his grandfather.
According to him, he actively started practising it when he was in the secondary school after he was directed by the evil spirits to craft an image to serve as an object of worship. Through this, he enticed a lot of his schoolmates into the practice of spiritism as many students sought after him for solutions to their problems.
After completing secondary school, he decided to use his charms to help people, especially the youth in and around Kojokrom, near Sekondi. His services were highly patronised by the youth who wanted quick money. This made him very popular and ‘powerful.’
As part of a house-to-house evangelism organised by the church at Obokrom, a team met him and preached the gospel to him. Initially, he was reluctant to surrender his life to Christ for fear of being haunted by the evil spirits, but through prayers by the church, he later accepted Christ as his Lord and Saviour.
He led the district pastor and some elders to where he had stored his amulets and charms. Interestingly, some of his charms were kept in a hole he had dug in his room, while others had been kept at the local cemetery.
Through intensive prayers all the satanic materials were burnt. Kojo was immediately baptized by immersion. He is now a freed man and fellowships at the Emmanuel Assembly in Obokrom District.
Indeed, whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved!
