The Asankrangwa Area of The Church of Pentecost, under the leadership of Apostle Robert Christian Ackon, has launched the Area’s environmental care campaign.

The ceremony, which took place on Friday, February 15, 2019, during the 2019 Apostolisation at the McKeown Temple, was attended by a Officers and members of the Church as well as the Pastorate, most of whom were clad in green and white branded T-shirts with the campaign slogan ‘Environmental Care, My Responsibility’ boldly imprinted on them.

Present at the event were the District Manager of Zoomlion Ghana Limited, Mr. Anthony Ofori Aidoo, and his Operational Assistant, Mr. Edward Ofori Kissi.

The ‘Environmental Care Campaign’ is an initiative of The Church of Pentecost Headquarters in partnership with the government of Ghana and Zoomlion Ghana Limited aimed at sensitizing members of the Church across the country and Ghanaians as a whole on the urgent need to keep their surroundings clean.

The Asankrangwa Area launch of the campaign was in line with the implementation plan of the campaign which requires that all areas, districts and local assemblies of the Church launch it at their levels to ensure its effective implementation across the country.

Addressing the gathering at the event, the Coordinator for the Area’s sanitation campaign, Pastor Benjamin Anane Adjei, who doubles as the New Town District
Minister, quoted Genesis 2:15 and explained that God put man in the Garden of Eden to take care of it. “We as Christians have the responsibility of taking very good care of our environment,” he said.

He further noted that the campaign has been introduced by the leadership of the Church to encourage every Ghanaian, particularly members of the Church and Christians at large, to take proper care of the environment.

Mr. Anthony Ofori Aidoo, District Manager of Zoomlion Ghana Ltd, on his part, said waste causes a lot of sicknesses such as malaria in the country. He, therefore, stressed on the need to intentionally and consistently take care of the environment, saying, “The environmental care campaign by The Church of Pentecost is the right intervention at the right time.”

According to him, Zoomlion Ghana Ltd will soon be distributing waste bins to individuals and homes in the Asankrangwa, Enchi and nearby communities. He charged them to use the bins when given for the right purpose.

Launching the campaign, the Area Head, Apostle Robert Christian Ackon, stated that the Asankrangwa Area, which boasts of 23 districts and a population of over 58,000 members, has enough numbers to improve the sanitary condition of the Asankrangwa community and its environs.

He, therefore, called on all and sundry to support the campaign and play active role in their respective communities. He urged the members to be agents in transforming their sanitation challenges.

Pastor Anane Adjei led the congregation to pledge to keep their environment clean.
