The La Area of The Church of Pentecost on Tuesday, February 12, 2019, started this year’s Officers’ Retreat and Apostolization at the Dome of the Pentecost International Worship Centre, Kokomlemle in Accra.

The retreat, which is in line with the 2019 theme of the Church, is aimed at equipping the lay leaders to effectively implement the 5-year strategic vision of the Church which spans from 2018 to 2023.

The day one of the 4-day retreat and apostolization programme saw 1,132 participants attending.

In his opening sermon on the topic, “Leadership of the Church,” the La Area Head, Apostle John Osei Amaniampong, stated that one cannot lead without love. He said just as Jesus’ love was selfless, continuous, and unconditional, contemporary leaders need to exhibit same.

Taking his Scripture references from Matthew 16:18, Titus 2:13-14, Exodus 34, John 13:1-17, among others, Apostle Amaniampong stated how Jesus Christ humbled Himself by washing the feet of His disciples, signifying how leaders ought to humble themselves to attend to the needs of their flock.

The Area Head reiterated the need for leaders to demonstrate knowledge while leading the members in love. Listing some responsibilities of leaders which include leading, feeding the sheep, watching over his sheep, protecting them, correcting and disciplining them, among others, he said leaders have a divine mandate to present a blameless and stainless Church to Jesus Christ, the owner of the Church.

Present was the wife of the Chairman of the Church, Mrs. Mary Nyamekye, among others.
