The Ashanti Mampong Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Prophet Foster Kwasi Aniakwaa, has launched the Area’s ‘Environmental Care Campaign’ aimed at mobilising the members to keep their surroundings and their communities clean.

The campaign, dubbed “The Environment, My Responsibility,” is part of the Church’s five-year strategic vision (Vision 2023) of possessing the nations.

Referring to the vision document, Prophet Aniakwaa indicated that the Church is instrumental in fostering growth and transformational development of every nation, saying, “Over the years, The Church of Pentecost has been instrumental in promoting growth and sustainable development in Ghana.”

According to him, the time has come for the Church to take up the sanitation challenges of the nation. He, therefore, charged ministers, officers and members of the Church to personalize the vision and practice both good personal and environmental hygiene.

He underscored the need to do regular clean-up exercises. For this reason, he said, the Area has scheduled every Saturday before the ‘Akwasidae’ to be used for clean-up exercises.
Touching on open defaecation, the Area Head encouraged all households to own a toilet facility in order to end the canker.

On best farming practices, Prophet Aniakwaa called on farmers to resort to organic farming and avoid using herbicides in their homes and farmlands so as to protect the natural resources from harmful exploitation to benefit generations yet unborn.

The event, which coincided with the 2018 End-of-Year Area Presbytery Meeting, was graced by Apostle Frimpong Manso of the Divine Blessing Church, Ashanti Mampong; Mr. Charles Yeboah Asiedu (Municipal Chief Environmental Officer), Elder Joseph Kojo Barnes, a representative of Zoomlion Ghana Company Limited, among others.

Addressing the participants, Apostle Frimpong Manso congratulated The Church of Pentecost for embarking on the environmental care campaign, describing it as a “bold and exemplary decision” to rid the nation of filth.

He, however, called on the members of the church to endeavour to sustain the vision and work hard to achieve it.

The Municipal Chief Environmental Officer, Mr. Charles Yeboah Asiedu, applauded the efforts of the Church in keeping the nation clean of filth. He added his voice to the call to stop open defaecation and indiscriminate disposal of refuse. He and his team donated six large size dustbins to the Church to support the campaign.
