The Pentecost Men’s Ministry (PEMEM) in Nungua District of the Teshie-Nungua Area of The Church of Pentecost has organised a Black Tie Cocktail Party to promote the interest of young men in the Ministry.

The event which took place at Agnes Boahemaa Gyimah Memorial Temple on Saturday, November 17, 2018, was well attended by both the old and young men as well as some female members from the district.

The Black Tie Cocktail Party sought to debunk the notion that PEMEM is basically for older men in the church. “The idea that PEMEM is for the older men is not true; it is a Ministry which seeks to groom, nurture and incorporate sound Biblical values to all men in the Church and to encourage them to take up leadership roles in the Church and become responsible men in society,” Elder Panyin Antwi-Boasiako, Bethel Assembly PEMEM Leader in the Nungua District explained.

Speaking on the topic, “Adultery in Marriage,” the Greda Estate District Minister, Pastor William Amponsah Asiamah, who was the guest speaker stated that adultery has brought down many powerful men of God. He pleaded with married couples to work on their marriages, saying, “Marriage is not an antidote for adultery or fornication; learn to control your body.”

Pastor Asiamah pointed out that people indulge in adultery because of lustful desires, promiscuity, financial or material gains and peer pressure.

He quoted from 1 Corinthians 5:19; 6:18, Numbers 25, Deuteronomy 5: 18, Proverb 5:8 among others and advised the unmarried to hold on to their purity and wait patiently on God for their life partners since marriage is for life. “Do not be pressured into going to taste it when the time is not ripe for you,” he said.

Pastor Asiamah stressed the need for both the married and the unmarried to desist from sexual immorality since it defiles the body and defeats God’s purpose for marriage.

Enumerating the benefits of sex when practiced in the right context, he said it releases stress and tension, boosts the immune system, serves as a form of exercise, burns calories in the body, and reduces the chances of acquiring prostate cancer. It also gives long life and makes one look younger.

“Do not use sex as a weapon in marriage to score points with your spouse,” he advised.

According to him, staying away from questionable places, being content with one’s spouse and avoiding sitting alone with the opposite sex are some of the probable ways to avoid adultery in marriage.

“As a married man, avoid going on trek with a woman who is not your wife. As a married woman, never allow your house help to wash your spouse’s underwear,” he said.

The Nungua District Minister, Pastor Frank Oppong, also took time to encourage the youth to desist from prolong hugging and holding of hands and to cut off all ties with ex-lovers.

Varieties of local drinks and well-seasoned grilled red meat were served at the party.
