The vice-chancellor of the Pentecost University, Apostle Professor Kwabena Agyapong-Kodua, has challenged newly called missionaries to look beyond individual conversions and intentionally influence the systems that shape societies wherever God sends them.

Speaking on the topic “Ministry to the Nations” during the opening of the 2026 Orientation Course for newly called missionaries and ministers completing their ministerial formation at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Gomoa Fetteh, on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, Apostle Professor Agyapong-Kodua indicated that effective missionary work must transform both people and the structures that govern their lives. The event is under the theme “Missionaries Sent Forth to Transform Society with the Gospel and the Power of the Holy Spirit.”

Drawing from Matthew 28:19, Apostle Prof. Agyapong-Kodua explained that the biblical concept of “nations” refers to people groups or ethnic groups rather than merely sovereign states. He said God’s call extends to all people, urging missionaries to minister without discrimination regardless of ethnicity, nationality, or culture.

He noted that, unlike ambassadors, who represent their own countries, and politicians, who serve specific constituencies, missionaries are commissioned by God to serve all nations.

According to him, nations comprise people of different ages living within geographical boundaries and under various social and political systems. For that reason, he stressed that missionaries must intentionally influence not only individuals but also the systems that shape communities and national life.

Touching on the complexities of ministry, the vice-chancellor observed that cultures and societies are constantly evolving, remarking that “change is the evidence of life.” However, he assured the participants that while cultures change, God remains sovereign over history and continues to raise agents of transformation for every generation.

Apostle Prof. Agyapong-Kodua identified versatility and forward movement as essential qualities for effective ministry to the nations. He encouraged the participants to remain rooted in God’s truth while adapting to different cultural settings, explaining that God’s purpose is always to bring value and transformation to people.

He concluded by urging the newly called missionaries to remain resilient and keep advancing in their calling despite the challenges they may encounter on the mission field.
