A team of healthcare professionals provided free basic health screenings, including Body Mass Index (BMI), blood sugar, and blood pressure checks, to 120 people during a special outreach organised by the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC), Michel Camp, on Saturday, August 10, 2024. The event was led by the Home and Urban Missions (HUM) in collaboration with the Pentecost Social Services (PENTSOS) Committee of the church.
Participants received consultations and recommendations on managing their health conditions. Of the 120 people screened, about 60 were from the three ghetto cells in the Kakasunanka No. 1 community.
The PENTSOS Committee also facilitated a team from the Ashaiman District Office of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) to offer various services, including new health insurance registrations, replacement of lost cards, and policy renewals, benefiting a total of 112 people.
The outreach included a friendly football match between the PIWC youth and members of the ghetto communities, adding a fun and engaging element to the day’s activities. The event concluded with a kenkey party, providing a shared meal and fellowship. Most importantly, 13 individuals committed their lives to Christ.
Reflecting on the outreach, the District HUM Coordinator, Elder Emmanuel Allotey, expressed gratitude to God for turning a long-held dream into reality. He noted that the participants from the ghettos felt blessed by the support, which was provided free of charge.
