The Ministry to Persons with Disabilities (MPWDs) of The Church of Pentecost, in collaboration with Joni & Friends International, has recorded a significant evangelistic breakthrough in Sokodé, Togo, with 87 souls won for Christ and 42 people baptised in water.
The achievement was recorded during an assistive-device distribution and evangelism exercise organised by the two organisations to provide practical support to Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) while sharing the Gospel and demonstrating the love of Christ to them.
The outreach, which commenced earlier in the week, brought together PWDs who received assistive devices and had the opportunity to hear the Gospel.
Through the evangelistic activities, 87 people responded positively to the message of Christ and accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. Forty-two (42) of the new converts subsequently received water baptism.
The exercise ended on Thursday, September 10, 2026, after several days of distributing assistive devices and engaging beneficiaries with the Gospel.
Speaking to Pent News during the exercise, Apostle Koudjessou Komi, Sokodé Central Area Head, described the outcome as a remarkable breakthrough, particularly considering the religious context of the area.
According to him, Sokodé is predominantly Muslim, making Christian evangelism in the area a challenging task. He, therefore, attributed the number of souls won to the grace of God and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to reach the people with the Gospel.
The outreach combined the provision of assistive devices with evangelism, reflecting the MPWDs’ commitment to addressing both the practical and spiritual needs of persons with disabilities.
The partnership with Joni & Friends International has enabled the Church to extend practical support to PWDs while creating opportunities to introduce beneficiaries to the Christian faith.
The assistive devices provided during the exercise included mobility aids intended to enhance the independence and participation of persons with disabilities in their families and communities.
The Sokodé outreach forms part of the broader ministry of the MPWDs, which seeks to reach persons with disabilities with the Gospel while promoting their dignity, inclusion and holistic development.
Following the conclusion of the Sokodé exercise, the team is scheduled to move to Kpalimé for a Family Retreat. The week-long camping programme is designed for parents and guardians of persons with disabilities, providing them with an opportunity to rest, receive support and temporarily unburden themselves from the demands of caregiving.
