Pentecost University, in collaboration with The Church of Pentecost, has hosted the 4th session of the James McKeown Memorial Lectures, an event that commemorates the legacy of Pastor James McKeown and celebrates the impact of Pentecostalism on global mission.
The lectures took place on Friday November 9, 2024 at the James McKeown Auditorium of the Pentecost University.This year’s lecture, themed: ‘Deeply rooted, fully transformed: A people of God unleashed to transform their spheres,’ attracted a diverse audience of theologians, church leaders, and members.
The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost and Chancellor of the university, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, delivered the keynote address.
He emphasised the need for Pentecostal and Charismatic churches to serve as catalysts for positive change.
The Chancellor highlighted the importance of integrating social transformation into the mission of churches, inspiring both spiritual and social transformation globally.
Vice-Chancellor of Pentecost University, Apostle Professor Kwabena Agyapong-Kodua, stressed that individual faith alone is insufficient in the face of corrupt systems.
He highlighted the necessity for collective action and community engagement to foster meaningful change.
Apostle Professor Opoku Onyinah, the immediate past Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, also contributed to the discussion, noting that the success or failure of societies is significantly influenced by the actions of Christians.
The lectures fostered rich and insightful dialogue, with participants praising the event for its ability to bring practical mission activities and ecclesial practices into harmony.
