The Youth Directorate of The Church of Pentecost in collaboration with Areas and Districts in the Greater Accra Region on Friday, 13th December 2019 held a mammoth all-night service at the Trade Fair Centre at La, Accra to thank God for His blessings and protection throughout the year.
The service, which was attended by over 10,000 youth, was under the theme, “We Have Come To Say Thank You” (Luke 17:18).
Musical ministrations were performed by Elder Dr Kwasi Mireku, E’mPraise Inc., Praise Achord, National Youth Choir, among others.
In a welcome address, Pastor Ebenezar Hagan, the Youth Director, intimated that the all-night service was to garner young people together to raise worship and adoration to God for His goodness throughout the year. He also used the occasion to present the four-year vision of the Youth Ministry dubbed, “Grounding Young People in Christ and Unleashing them to Possess the Nations” (Colossians 2:6-7).
In a sermon on the topic, “Thank God for Glory and the Rain” taken from 2 Kings 3:9-14, Apostle Nana Yaw Agyei (Manager of Pentecost Convention Centre and Resident Minister of Ghana Flag Worship Centre in Kasoa Area) stated that there are two seasons in the lives of believers, which are abundance and dryness.
He elaborated that, the season of abundance is characterised by testimonies about the goodness of God to His people. This season, he said, is also shown in answered prayers, daily experience of miracles and impact on society. He explained that the season of abundance is the place God is calling young people to so that they can possess the nations. “The price to pay to enjoy the season of abundance is to continually fellowship with God in His word, prayer and worship,” he said.
He also encouraged the youth to remain faithful to God and eschew things that lead to lukewarm spirituality.
The PCC Centre Manager explained the period of dryness as the moments of weakness where the believer may be spiritually weak as a result of not reading the Bible and may feel lonely in the face of challenges. He, therefore, encouraged young people to seek God in such times for nourishment.
“Every youth must have the Word in him or her because the devil is not afraid of the Christian who puts the Bible under his pillow and not in him or her. An average believer must have the word of God engraved in the heart,” he stated.
Apostle Nana Yaw Agyei further charged young people to continually yield to the leadings of the Holy Spirit in order to be fully equipped to possess the nations for Christ. He encouraged them to work hard, study the scriptures and take over activities in the church.
The service was enriched with intimate prayers, intense worship and unlimited praise. The powerful atmosphere led to the baptism of 188 persons in the Holy Spirit. Five (5) souls were won for Christ.
Present at the event were Mrs Priscilla Hagan (wife of the Youth Director), Mrs Gina Asante (Member, National Executive Committee), Area Youth Pastors, Area Youth Leaders and some ministerial students from the School of Theology, Mission and Leadership (STML) of the Pentecost University College.
