Your Community Life Must Reflect The Teachings Of Christ – Chairman Tells Christians

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has said that when the community life of Christians does not reflect the teachings of Christ, the watching world (non-Christians) would regard them as hypocrites.

According to the Chairman, it is not enough for Christians to just talk about purity, rather they ought to practice it. “If we claim we are people of God, then we should be able to reveal God to the world,” he charged.

Apostle Eric Nyamekye said this on Monday, November 11, 2019, when he expounded on the 2020 theme of The Church of Pentecost, “A Glorious Church To Possess The Nations” (Ephesians 3:21, 5:27) at the ongoing November Heads’ Prayer Meeting at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Gomoa Fetteh.

In his address, Apostle Nyamekye emphasized that in order to meet her intended goal to become a spotless and blameless bride of Christ, the Church must constantly uphold her moral purity and doctrinal purity.

Emphasizing on the moral purity of the Church, the Chairman explained that as the Church wins souls through evangelism and her membership increases, her members must be taught and equipped to practice pure doctrinal teachings and develop the right sense of community life that reflects Christ in all their endeavours.

This, he said, is because the watching world is constantly judging the Church based on how she conducts herself in accordance with the teachings of Christ.

“The Church must preach and practice in deeds the teachings of the Bible. The world will also believe the truth the Church claims only if the Church practices all the things she teaches. Through the Church’s teachings and our community life, the watching world would know that Christ is our King and Lord,” he added.

The Chairman, however, stated that, the Church must balance her holiness with love so that she will be attractive to the watching world and consequently make her evangelistic efforts easier and more effective.

Touching on the doctrinal purity of the Church, Apostle Eric Nyamekye said that the Church must always be guarded and guided by the word of God. He said the Church must, therefore, scan within herself to identify false teachings that might have gotten into her ranks to corrupt her so that the truth of the gospel would be preserved (Galatians 2:5).

“Jesus in praying for the Church before His departure prayed that the Church will be sanctified by the truth (John 17:17). This implies that what keeps the Church perpetually sanctified is the true word of God. Anything outside this has the propensity to corrupt the Church and lead her astray,” he said.
