The Achimota Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle David Tettey Tekper, has asked Ghanaians to use the Easter festivities to reflect on national challenges and lead lives that will help build a united country.
He observed that although Easter is a religious festival for Christians to commemorate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, it is equally a period for concerted efforts to be made to build bridges at all levels of national life.
Speaking at the climax of the 2019 Easter Convention at the Pokuase Zone on Sunday, April 21, 2019, Apostle Tekper said the first gift of the risen Christ to His disciples was peace. He, therefore, urged Ghanaians to pray for and work towards the realization of peace in all sectors of their lives.
He said it is important for Christians to reflect on the death of Jesus and stay away from negative behaviours such as greed, hatred, envy and vindictiveness and work towards virtues that promote national unity and cohesion.
“The world today must accept the message of reconciliation between God and humans and also between one human being and another. This message of reconciliation means the healing of our broken relationships and overcoming our hostilities towards one another and seeking the welfare of our neighbours,” Apostle Tekper stated, when speaking on the topic: “The Declarations of the Risen Lord.”
He further called on Ghanaians to emulate the virtues of forgiveness and self-sacrifice as exhibited by Jesus Christ in order to move the nation forward. He stressed on the need for everyone to genuinely repent and have faith in Jesus Christ so as to enjoy His glorious redemption package.
“Salvation is found in no man but Jesus Christ alone. No human articles can wash our sins away or save us except the blood of Jesus,” he explained.
The Achimota Area Head of the Church held its 2019 Easter Convention in five zones namely, Pokuase, Medie, Dome, Tantra Hill and Achimota. Pokuase zone alone recorded 10,133 attendance on Easter Sunday. Many souls were worn and baptized during the convention at the various zones. In addition, there were life-changing testimonies from members.
