The Pent Media Centre (PMC) has organised an intensive media training session for the Church in Sierra Leone, aimed at strengthening digital evangelism and enhancing media capacity.
The training, which took place at the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC) – Freetown on Saturday, April 18, 2026, brought together over 30 young and enthusiastic participants eager to sharpen their media skills.
Explaining the rationale behind the initiative, Pastor Ivan Fayama Turay (Resident Minister, PIWC Freetown) stated that the programme was designed to equip church media teams across the country with essential digital competencies while offering practical knowledge on the effective use of modern media equipment.
In his presentation, Director of the Pent Media Centre Pastor Dr Felix Dela Klutse, highlighted the urgency of embracing digital platforms for evangelism. He noted that the online space has become the world’s largest mission field, with over 5.2 billion social media users globally, representing approximately 63.9% of the world’s population.
He, therefore, encouraged churches to prioritise social media evangelism to expand their outreach. “Pastors are trained to preach but not trained to post. Yet, posts are shaping more minds than anything,” he remarked, adding that “a digital pulpit left empty is a platform handed to the devil.”
A Social Media Officer at Pent Media Centre (PMC), Joseph Attoh, led participants through hands-on training sessions in livestreaming, photography, projection, and videography, ensuring practical engagement across all modules.
After the presentations, donations were made to the Media Ministry of the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC) – Freetown, with members contributing laptops, iPads, and cash to support the district’s media work.
The training was made possible through collaboration with the Missions Office of The Church of Pentecost Headquarters and with the support of the National Head of the Church in Sierra Leone, Apostle More Sanpha.
PMC is expected to roll out similar training programmes in other African countries, including Uganda, Kenya, Benin, and Togo, as part of efforts to strengthen church media operations across the continent.
Participants described the session as impactful, with several church media teams from different denominations, including Winners Chapel International, also taking part in the training.
