A two-day Lay Leaders Training School (LLTS) has been organised for officers and other lay leaders in the Sydney District of The Church of Pentecost (CoP) in Australia.

The training school, spearheaded by the Discipleship and Mentorship Ministry of the District, was held in collaboration with the National Discipleship and Leadership Development Committee (NDLDC) of The Church of Pentecost in Ghana.

The maiden training programme was held virtually, with 40 officers in attendance daily.

With the goal of unleashing the whole church to transform their world, the following ropic were treated at the event: Aspects of Vision 2028, History of CoP, Tenets, Core Values and Governance of CoP, the Church Leader’s Marriage and Family life, Finance in CoP, and Discipleship in CoP.

Others were Baptism, Gifts and Fruit of the Holy Spirit, Ushering and Protocol in the Unleashed Church, and Winning the Cities – the Sydney Strategy.

Opening the session, the Missions Attaché, Pastor Charles Nyarko, entreated the participants to work diligently, open up to learning new things, and come up with spirit-backed innovative ideas to ensure the transformation of the church and translate that to missions.

He commended them for their commitment to the church, adding, “God expects more from us. We must be thoroughly equipped and unleashed into the world. Our transforming virtues must be felt.”

Among the facilitators were Pastor Emmanuel Pasteeco Arthur (NDLDC Secretary), Pastor Joseph Owusu Boateng (NDLDC National Executive Member), Pastor George Osei-Asiedu (a member of the NDLDC Editorial Team), Pastor Foster Asamoah, and Pastor Bernard Kwarteng of the NDLDC Secretariat.

Others were Pastor Benjamin Ofei Badu, Pastor Gabriel Owusu, Elder Martinson Joy Dadson Bonsu (Discipleship and Mentorship Ministry Leader), Elder Kwasi Nuamah, and Mr. Emmanuel Ampofo.

Pastor George Osei-Asiedu, representing the facilitators at the final plenary session, entreated the church in Sydney to endeavour to work assiduously to win the indigenes for Christ and into the church.

He also commended them for their lively contributions and encouraged them to remain selfless and committed to their calling.

“If you don’t serve, you’ll not be served. Service calls for giving yourself, your resources, and energies to Christ,” he revealed.

The school successfully ended with great fulfillment and learning experiences from both the participants and facilitators.

The second block of the LLTS will be held later in the second half of 2024.
