Suhum Area Inaugurates Chieftaincy Ministry

The Suhum Area of The Church of Pentecost, under the leadership of Apostle Anthony Eghan Kwesi Ekuban, has inaugurated the Chieftaincy Ministry in the Area to provide chaplaincy services to chiefs, queens and other royals in the church.

The glamourous event, which was held at the L.A. Nyarko Memorial Sanctuary recently, saw the inauguration of a seven-member Area Executive Committee of the new ministry mandated to lead the church’s vision of possessing the palace.

Pastor Samuel Osae-Djan (retired), in a sermon titled, “Equipping Chiefs as Army to Possess Their Territories” – Romans 13:1-5, called for a paradigm shift from how society sees royals as idol worshippers.

He explained that in times past many Christians wrongly perceived the chieftaincy institution to be a symbol of idol worship and for that matter, chiefs and queen mothers do not merit the Kingdom of God.  “Currently, through the possessing the nation’s agenda, the church now has royals who are elders, deacons and deaconesses,” he said.

Pastor Osae-Djan expounded that the gospel needs to be preached in the palaces to win more souls for Christ and in that direction, royals in the church should serve as the agents of transformation.

Inaugurating the seven-member Area Committee of the Chieftaincy Ministry, Apostle Ekuban commended the committee members for accepting the responsibility to champion the cause of the gospel in the palaces in addition to their traditional duties. He charged them to work assiduously and also liaise with other traditional rulers in the Area to spread the gospel to the palaces.

Speaking on behalf of the committee, Nana Nicholas Odame, Dwantoahene of Kibi, who is the chairman, expressed his appreciation to the leadership of the church for coming out with such a great vision to help royals know Christ.

He urged all royals to uphold the ‘Possessing the Nations’ agenda of the church, saying, “We are going out as servants to possess the nations. We need to enter the palace and introduce Christ to our subjects.”

The colourful occasion was graced by all pastors within the Suhum Area, chiefs, queen mothers and other royals within the Area.
