The General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Samuel Gyau Oboubi, has advised church leaders to serve committedly without expecting any form of reward.

He gave this advice when delivering a sermon on Monday, September 2, 2024, to begin a two-day Heads and Wives Prayer Retreat at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Gomoa Fetteh.

Speaking on the topic, ‘The Servant, the Bondservant and Rewards,’ the General Secretary revealed that the bondservant serves without expecting any physical or material reward or appreciation because he sees himself as bonded to his master forever.

He established the difference between a mere servant and a bondservant by saying that a mere servant is one who serves his master at will but is not owned by his or her master and so can leave at any time, but the bondservant has been purchased and is owned by the master.

He added that due to this, the bondservant can never leave the service of his master for any reason.

The chief scribe further described the servant leader as ‘a person who dedicates himself or herself fully to God’s service, prioritising God’s will above his personal interest and ambitions.’

He mentioned that the bondservant is emptied of self, walks in humility, and is ready to obey his master even to the point of humiliation and death.

This bond servant, he explained, does not have any excuse when it comes to the master’s will.

Touching on what God, who is the Master expects of ministers as bondservants, Apostle Oboubi pointed out that God requires leaders to serve Him with a heart of humility and obedience, submitting themselves fully to His will, authority and loyalty regardless of the times and situations.

He admonished ministers to have these attitudes of a bondservant throughout their ministerial life because God is not a wicked master who will deny His servants rewards, but He does not expect them to be looking forward to anything.
