Prophet Robert Kobina Dentu and his wife, Mrs Gladys Dentu, of Sefwi Wiawso Area of The Church of Pentecost, have gloriously retired from active ministry after 25 years ofimpactful service.
The retirement service was held on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at the Area Convention Centre in Sefwi Wiawso.
The ceremony was officiated by Apostle Mike Etrue, Executive Council member and Eastern Regional RCC Co-ordinator, assisted by Apostle Dr David Nyansah Hayfron (Tarkwa Area Head), Apostle Daniel Frimpong-Manso (Bogoso Area Head), and Pastor Frank Awuah Fordjour (Essam-Debiso Area Head). The service attracted ministers, members, traditional leaders, and dignitaries, who gathered to celebrate the couple’s enduring legacy.
Prophet Dentu, described as approachable, a deep thinker, and a man with keen interest in the spiritual and social development of people, was commended for his prophetic insights, an office he was called into in 2016, which provided clear guidance and direction for the church.
Together with his wife, Mama Gladys, he entered full-time ministry in 2000, serving at six duty stations: Abirem Agona (Cape Coast Area), Kasoa Ofaakor (then Kasoa Area), Alogboshie Worship Centre (Achimota Area while at GEC), Nkawkaw Area, and Sefwi Wiawso Area.
He also served as Director of the Ghana Evangelism Committee (GEC) from 2010 to 2015 and contributed significantly to the wider body of Christ as a member of the Western North Regional Peace Council and Chairman of the Western North branch of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC).
Preaching on the theme of grace, Apostle Etrue quoted from Ephesians 2:8-9 and John 1:17, urging believers to remain connected to Christ, the source of all grace.
‘Christ is the source of all grace, and greater grace calls for greater labour,’ he said.
He encouraged members to rely on God’s grace in times of trial (1 Corinthians 15:9-10), stressing that grace empowers believers to overcome sin and remain steadfast. He further highlighted its greatness (Acts 4:33), abundance (2 Corinthians 12:9; Romans 5:15-20), glory (Ephesians 1:6), and blessing (2 Corinthians 13:14).
In a spirit-filled atmosphere of worship and testimonies from the General Council, Area Presbytery, Area Pastorate, and Women’s Ministry, the church expressed heartfelt gratitude to Prophet Robert and Mrs Gladys Dentu for their sacrificial service, describing their ministry as a blessing to the church and beyond.
They were also presented with a certificate of service in appreciation of their selfless dedication in the Lord’s vineyard and The Church of Pentecost in particular.
