The Anyaa-Ablekuma Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle William Ohemeng-Kwakye, has urged believers to cultivate a strong culture of prayer, describing prayer as the lifeline that sustains the church.
He made this call when he delivered a sermon during the dedication service of the Emmanuel Assembly church building of the Oduman District. His message, titled “Prayer, the Bloodline of the Church,” was based on Mark 11:15–17 and Isaiah 56:7.
Preaching on the importance of prayer, Apostle Ohemeng-Kwakye explained that prayer is to the church what blood is to the human body. According to him, just as blood sustains life in the body, prayer nourishes, strengthens, and sustains the spiritual life of the church.
He stressed that prayer should not be treated as an optional activity but as a necessity for both personal and corporate spiritual growth.
Referring to the words of Jesus in Mark 11:17, the Area Head noted that the church must remain a house of prayer where seeking God becomes the central activity. He explained that when prayer is prioritised, it creates an atmosphere for God’s presence to dwell and for lives to be transformed.
Apostle Ohemeng-Kwakye further stated that genuine revival is birthed through prayer. He explained that revival does not come merely through programmes and activities but through a consistent culture of prayer that drives spiritual awakening and sustains the life of the church.
He also warned about the dangers of neglecting prayer, explaining that a prayerless church becomes spiritually weak and vulnerable to sin. According to him, when prayer declines, carnality and corruption take over, leading to spiritual stagnation and loss of vision.
He added that the greatest danger of a prayerless church is the loss of God’s presence.
Apostle Ohemeng-Kwakye called on believers to become a prayerful people and urged the church to intentionally build and sustain a strong prayer culture.
He reaffirmed that prayer is the lifeline of the church and emphasised that without it, the church loses its spiritual vitality.
