The Kwame Nkrumah University Technology (KNUST) branch of the Pentecost Students and Associates (PENSA), the student wing of The Church of Pentecost, has organized a three-day Ecclesiology Conference to have an in-depth study of the church.
The conference, which was well-attended by PENSA members in KNUST, took place from April 4 – 7, 2019 at the PENSA Building Site – Ayeduase with the Youth Director of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle David Nyansah Hayfron, as the main speaker.
In a presentation on the church on the first day of the conference, Apostle Nyansah Hayfron averred that Jesus commissioned Himself to an assignment to build His church, and it is therefore the duty of Christ to ensure that the Church is built.
He further explained that the revelation of Jesus as the Messiah is the foundation on which the church started. He asserted that a person ought to come to that place of discovery before becoming a part of the church, hence it is through regeneration that a person can be a part of the Church.
“Just as without a foundation there is no building, without Christ there is no church. The church is not a collective term only used to describe the ones called out by God but also a term that describes those who belong to Him, and it is their responsibility to offer themselves to God in order for Him to build them up,” he said.
Touching on the marks of the church Christ said He would build, the Youth Director noted that such a church is a community that has Christ as its centre, proclaims and teaches the way of Christ, and there is service to God and the worship of God.
He emphasized that such a church is missional in nature- carrying out the great commission, a miraculous church never rid of signs and wonders, a multiplying church which grows daily, a militant church as well as a model to others.
Apostle Hayfron then cautioned the church against the dangers of post-modernism, noting that such a church is in danger of becoming a monument where it serves as a reminder of days gone by, a memorial where the church no longer grows and with time fades away, a monastery where members are kept by compulsion and previous affiliations, a mall where people meet to pursue their own agenda, and a military camp where it’s members are made subject to strict rules and dictatorship.
The Youth Director who is an alumnus of PENSA-KNUST also used the occasion to interact with the students.
Present at the conference were Prophet James Osei Amaniampong (Asokwa Area Head), Pastor Franklin Kumi Lartey (Travelling Secretary – Asokwa Sector), Pastor Shadrach Addo Arnan (Asokwa Area Youth Pastor), Pastor Emmanuel Adjei (District Minister – Ayeduase District).
