The General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, has urged Christians to remain steadfast in their service to God, assuring them that every labour done in the Lord will never be in vain.

Preaching on the topic “Your Labour is Not in Vain” at the retirement service of Apostle John Obeng Kesse and his wife, Mrs. Eunice Owiredua Kesse, in Kumasi on Sunday, Apostle Samuel Obuobi drew from 1 Corinthians 15:58 to encourage believers to be “steadfast, immovable and always abound in the work of the Lord,” knowing that their efforts will not go unrewarded.

He explained that, unlike men who easily forget, God is not unjust to overlook the labour of love and service rendered to Him, referencing Hebrews 6:10.

Apostle Obuobi further noted that the work of God demands diligence and sacrifice, not laziness, stating that “the grace of God does not produce laziness but hard work.”

Acknowledging that there are moments when Christians may feel unappreciated or that their service is unnoticed, he cautioned against seeking recognition from people. Instead, he urged believers to look up to God for their reward.

“We do not work for man, but for God, so we should not expect our rewards from men. Also, we should be careful not to negotiate with the Lord for the terms of our reward, let’s leave that to Him, He knows how best to reward us,” he stressed.

The General Secretary concluded by admonishing Christians to remain immovable in the face of challenges and to keep abounding in the work of the Lord, with the assurance that the day of reward lies ahead.

The retirement service, which drew a large gathering comprising ministers (both active and retired), government officials, traditional leaders, church members, and well-wishers to the Tetelestai Worship Centre auditorium in Suame, Kumasi, marked the end of active service of Apostle Obeng Kese and his wife after 39- years of dedicated service in full-time ministry.
