The Old Tafo-Akim District under Koforidua Effiduase Area of The Church of Pentecost has held its maiden Home and Urban Missions (HUM) Christmas Convention on the theme, “In Him Is Life” (John 1:4).
The 2-day convention was held on Tuesday, 29th and Wednesday, 30th December 2020, at the Bethel Assembly, Osiem New Station.
Activities carried out included gospel outreach to the various ghettos in and around Osiem which yielded 10 souls. The new converts have since joined the Restoration (HUM) Assembly which was inaugurated in February 2020. The Restoration assembly began in the ghetto, but it has successfully been moved to a church auditorium since August following the exponential growth of the assembly. So far, two ladies of the assembly have been fully reformed and have since been enrolled in apprenticeship programme.
The convention was hosted by Pastor Prince Odoom, the District Minister. It was graced by the Area Head, Apostle Daniel Yeboah Nsaful; Pastor Gabriel Owusu Akyeaw (Eastern Regional HUM Pastor), and Pastor Job Wiredu of Ati District.
It was climaxed with “Afehyiapa Party” that fed 91 people. Assorted foods served at the party were fufu, banku, konkonte, rice and ampesi with Sobolo and lemogin local drinks.
About a month ago, a 3-yay residential retreat was organised for members of the HUM assembly and 15 of them received the Holy Spirit baptism.
The Eastern Regional HUM Pastor, Gabriel Owusu Akyeaw, in an interview commended Pastor Prince Odoom and his wife for their passion in reaching out to the neglected ones in society. He called other ministers of the church to show similar passion to the marginalized in order to transform them with the gospel message.
Pastor Akyeaw encouraged all ministers of the church to grasp the HUM concept and show leadership for its proper implementation.
He also commended the Area Head for supporting the Old Tafo-Akim District in its effort towards this special project.
Pastor Owusu Akyeaw revealed that the Restoration Assembly in Old Tafo-Akim District is the only well-established Ghetto Church in the Eastern Region and prayed that it would continue to expand to give birth to more HUM assemblies.
Report by Pastor Prince Odoom.
