On Tuesday evening, 24th April, 2018, at about 5:30PM, the Debiso District Minister of The Church of Pentecost, Pastor Paul Asante and wife, drove into a gang of highway robbers when they were returning from a journey to their station.
The armed robbers, numbering about ten, were dressed in black. Six of them were armed with assault rifle while the rest were wielding clubs, machetes and other offensive weapons.
The incidence occurred along the Sefwi Benkyema-Kantakrobo section of the road.
Immediately the assailants saw the Pastor’s vehicle coming, they started shooting at will from all directions in their zeal to stop the vehicle or even kill them. In the process some of the bullets hit the windscreen of the vehicle causing some damage to it.
However, with continuous mentioning of the name of Jesus, Pastor Asante and his wife escaped unhurt as they drove away amidst firing.
It was later realised that the robbers were apparently waiting for a V.I.P bus bound for Accra from Debiso. Fortunately, the Pastor met the V.I.P bus on the way and informed the driver of his ordeal and the danger ahead of them.
