EVACON 2018 Held At PCC

The 2018 edition of the Evangelism Conference dubbed EVACON, under the auspices of the Evangelism Ministry, has kick-started at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC) at Gomoa Fetteh, near Kasoa in the Central Region.

The biennial conference which is under the theme, “Making Jesus’ Priority Our Ardent Passion: Evangelism In The 21st Century,” is aimed at addressing the effectiveness of general evangelism, encouraging and empowering the participants for evangelism.

It also seeks to review the prevailing mechanisms of evangelism and adopt other contemporary strategies and methods to effectively propagate the gospel of Jesus Christ to the world.

This year’s conference is being attended by about 3,000 participants from all over the country.

Opening the conference on Wednesday, September 26, 2018, the Director of the Evangelism Ministry, Apostle Dr Amos Jimmy Markin, charged believers to prioritize evangelism so as to save the perishing souls from hellfire.

The Evangelism Director noted that Jesus Christ, who is the example of Christians, made evangelism His greatest priority, thus preaching the good news and doing good everywhere He went.

He quoted several biblical texts such as Matthew 28:14-20; 2 Timothy 4:5, 12-14; Mark 1:14; John 4:1-23; Mark 16:15; Luke 4:23; Acts 10, among others, to support his message.

According to Apostle Dr. Jimmy Markin, since evangelism was Jesus’ priority, believers have no option than to pursue evangelism vigorously in their quest to fulfilling the Great Commission.

“Jesus our example committed Himself to the preaching of the gospel. Evangelism was His first priority,” he said, adding, “Jesus Christ our mentor sacrificed His fame and dignity and went to the Samaritan woman who was considered as an outcast and preached the gospel to her. Jesus sacrificed His honour and hangout alone with a prostitute for the sake of the gospel.”

“The fields are ripe and are ready for harvest, but we are too busy building our churches and businesses. Preachers have stopped preaching the good news and are now prophesying while millions of souls are getting lost,” he bemoaned.

The Evangelism Director indicated that the gospel is the only answer to the question of life, and that without the gospel nobody can be saved, because it is the gospel alone that has an assurance of salvation.

“It is time to possess the nations. We can’t possess the nations with weapons but the Word of God. It is time to possess the nations with the message of the Kingdom of God,” he added.

EVACON 2018, which ends on Friday with a crusade at Kasoa, has other speakers such as Apostle Michael Collins Asiedu (former Evangelism Director and current Area Head of Suame, Kumasi), Rev. J. F. K. Mensah (Christlike Disciplemakers Movement), Rev. Dr. Steve Asante (Ghana Baptist Convention), Rev. Ahmed Adjei (Straightway Chapel International) and Elder Samuel Amo Tobin (CEO of Tobinco Group of Companies).
