The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Dr Eric Nyamekye, on the final day of his visit to the Weija Area, met members of the Bortianor Zone, comprising Kokrobite, Aplaku, and Bortianor Districts, on Thursday, December 5, 2025.

The Bortianor Central auditorium was charged with great expectation and excitement as the chairman delivered a powerful sermon on, “The Authority in the Name of Jesus Christ,”. He said a name carries identity and stressed that the name of Jesus carries incomparable power and divine authority. Referencing Psalm 9:10, he explained that those who truly know the Lord’s name place complete trust in Him. “It is not those who merely sing or write about the name who benefit from its power, but those who know the name and trust in it,” he noted.

Drawing from Proverbs 18:10, Apostle Nyamekye described the name of Jesus as a strong tower, while Psalm 8:1 highlights the royal and majestic nature of that name across all realms – visible and invisible. He emphasised that a name designates identity, and because of this, believers must guard their reputations carefully. He recalled how God instructed Adam to name all things, underscoring the spiritual value God places on names. “When God’s name is mentioned, it rises above every other name,” he said.

The Chairman urged Christians to work on their reputations, explaining that a person’s name embodies their entire existence. Citing 2 Samuel 20:1, he questioned, “What is the value of your name?” Using the analogy of labeled containers, he said that what truly matters is the “content” of one’s life. “If your name loses honour while you are still alive, you may lose relevance. Carry yourself well,” he advised.

Referencing Proverbs 21:24, he taught that one’s character greatly influences one’s name. “Your name is your greatest treasure,” he said. Quoting Proverbs 3:3–4, he added that those who live by love and kindness find favour before both God and people. He further explained that certain things, peace, wisdom, good health, long life, and a good name, cannot be bought, emphasising that a good name is most valuable. He cited 2 Samuel 21:4 to show that honour and reputation cannot be substituted with money.

Apostle Dr Nyamekye urged believers to choose a good name because it provides credibility, access, and security. “A good reputation opens doors and becomes a blessing to both you and others,” he stated. He added that a good name outlives its bearer.

Quoting Dr. Charles Blair, he said, “The bigness of a name is determined by the cause it lives for and the price it pays.” Jesus’ name, he stressed, is above all names because of the sacrifice He made for humanity. “The whole of heaven stands behind that name,” he said, referencing Philippians 2:5–10.

Using Colossians 4:11, Acts 13:6, and Matthew 27:16, he noted that although “Jesus” was a common name, Jesus of Nazareth stands above all because He paid the ultimate price. He referenced Acts 3:1–10, where Peter and John healed a man born lame through the power of Jesus’ name.

Apostle Nyamekye concluded with Mark 16:15–18, affirming that the name of the Lord remains a strong tower by which believers will work exploits and overcome the schemes of the enemy.

Also Present Were Apostle Isaac Amatey Anim, Weija Area Head; Ministers and their wives; retirees and widows; members of the Area Executive Committee; Chiefs and Traditional Leaders; as well as Pastor Benjamin Quaye Ofei-Badu, the National Coordinator for HUM.
