The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost (COP), Apostle Professor Opoku Onyinah, on Saturday, March 3, 2018, dedicated a newly-constructed 30-unit classroom block for the Pentecost Preparatory School (PPS), Koforidua.
The Chairman was assisted by the Koforidua Area Head, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, and Elder Gabriel Narh Amiteye (Headmaster, Koforidua PPS).
The event coincided with the Chairman’s 3-day working visit to the Koforidua Area.
The PPS-Koforidua was started on October 1, 1980, by the late Apostle A. T. Nartey who was then the Regional Head of The Church of Pentecost in the Eastern Region.
With the assistance of an ad-hoc Education Board, Apostle A.T. Nartey led members of the Church within the municipality to put up a two-storey 22-classroom block, through communal labour. However, after about 33 years later, the school building developed structural defects.
It, therefore, became expedient for a new classroom block to be constructed following the findings, observations and recommendations of a technical team which included then Pastor Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi (now Apostle and General Secretary) and Pastor Dr Joseph Buertey (Project Development and Estate Manager) dispatched to visit the site.
In 2014, the Area Head, Apostle Anthony Kingsley Miah (now Berekum Area Head) cut the sod for the commencement of the 3-storey 30 unit classroom block building project.
The project was further boosted by a GH¢1,200,000.00 financial support received from the COP Headquarters in 2017, which enabled the leadership of the school to complete the project within a period of 8 months.
The Pentecost Preparatory School (PPS), Koforidua newly-constructed school block with modern facilities such as a Computer Lab, a BDT Lab, and a Clinic, among others, was constructed at a total cost of GH¢ 2,552,314.00.
Present to witness the dedication of the school block were Hon. Comfort Asante (Municipal Chief Executive, New Juaben), Nana Twamasi Darkwa (Gyaasehene, Juaben Traditional Area), who represented Nana Professor Emeritus Oti Boateng (Chief, Juaben Traditional Area) at the event, as well as the pastorate of the Area and their wives.
