The Children’s Ministry of the New Tafo Area of The Church of Pentecost has organized fun games for children in the Area at the Paa Joe Sports Complex at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi.
The fun-filled event took place on May 1, 2019 (May Day). It was aimed at using sports as a focal point for social integration and also to win souls for Christ. It was attended by 2,893 children from the 18 districts in the Area.
In a brief address, the Area Children’s Ministry Leader, Pastor Theophilus Owusu-Boreh, admonished the children to exhibit attitudes and qualities that would foster unity and friendliness towards a peaceful existence among themselves.
Pastor Owusu-Boreh acknowledged the immediate-past Area Leader, Pastor Robert Nii Sowah Anang, for his leadership prowess.
The children participated in various sports disciplines which include soccer, lime and spoon race, sack race, and other non-competitive games like swimming, see-saw, electronic train, bouncing castle, among others.
The soccer game which was at the centre of attraction was once again won by the Bonwire District, the defending champions.
Sepe-Buokrom District also emerged the winners of the sack race in the 10-13 years’ category, with Atimatim District winning the 7-9 years’ category of the lime and spoon race.
The most interesting spectacle was when one of the officiating officials surrendered his life to Christ Jesus at the end of the games.
