Mrs Esther Matey Obu Goes Home At Age 29

Mrs Esther Matey Obu Goes Home

A solemn burial and memorial service has been held in memory of Mrs Esther Matey Obu, 29, the late wife of Overseer Joshua Obu of Assin Akropong District of The Church of Pentecost.

The burial service, which took place on Saturday, January 14, 2022, at Foso Habitat Prayer Grounds, was officiated by the Co-ordinator of the Central Regional Co-ordinating Committee (RCC), Apostle Samuel Yaw Antwi, assisted by Apostle David Tettey Tekper (Achimota Area Head), Apostle Philip Osei Korsah (Director of the Counseling Ministry), Apostle Prof. Kwabena Agyapong-Kodua (Vice Chancellor of Pentecost University), Area Heads, ministers and their wives, officers and members of the church in Assin Foso Area and other churches.

Speaking on the topic, “The mystery of the death of the righteous” with scripture reference from Numbers 23:10b, Pastor Emmanuel Anane of Assin Manso District stressed the need for believers to die as righteous people.

“The death of the righteous is a blissful experience because we go to be with the Lord forever where we rest from our earthly toils. Therefore, strive to die the death of the righteous,” he concluded.

He, however, said that very often, people are quick to attribute every negative happening, especially death to the devil, but one mystery of death is that it could be used as a tool to accomplish God’s purpose for believers.

“What could have encouraged Balaam who had been contracted by Balak to curse the Israelites and even kill them yearn to die like the righteous and have his end be like theirs?” he quizzed. “There was a mystery that may have been revealed to him.”

Pastor Anane said that death is seen by many as a dreaded evil that causes the cessation of life on earth. He, however, noted that death is for all and comes to people at a time they least expected.

Concluding his message, he stressed that notwithstanding the difficulties that death comes along with, the death of the righteous is a gain and far better than life on earth.

Apostle Samuel Yaw Antwi conveyed a consolatory message from the Chairman of the Church, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, to the widower, Overseer Joshua Obu, and the bereaved family.

Mrs Esther Obu together with her husband was called into the full-time ministry of the church and posted to the Assin Akropong District in August 2021. She will forever be remembered as an affable and bubbly young lady who had the development of children, youths and women at heart.

She is survived by a husband and two daughters.

Report by Pastor Samuel Avornyo.
