It was a truly remarkable moment of praise and celebration during the dedication of the Kwanyako District Central Assembly church building in the Agona Swedru Area of The Church of Pentecost.
The new edifice was dedicated on Sunday, July 20, 2025, by the Agona Swedru Area Head, Pastor Adjei-Nimako Darko, assisted by the Kwanyako District Minister, Pastor Emmanuel Essandoh, and other ministers in the Area.
In February 2021, the entire old structure was demolished due to major structural defects which posed a threat to lives.
The sod-cutting ceremony for the new building was performed by Apostle Derek Kwaning Mireku (now retired), the then Area Head, on April 14, 2021, when Elder Daniel Ato Entsiwah was the Presiding Elder. In July 2021, Elder Clement Afedi assumed the role of Presiding Elder.
Apostle Mireku’s regular visits to the site and his financial support greatly encouraged the congregation, affirming that the building would be completed swiftly. The foundation stone of the new building was laid on December 28, 2023, by Apostle Mireku, assisted by Pastor Emmanuel Essandoh.
Another significant phase of the project began when Pastor Adjei-Nimako Darkwa took office as Area Head in September 2024. His frequent site visits, financial contributions, technical expertise, and aesthetic suggestions were invaluable, culminating in the completion and dedication of the building.
The following individuals were acknowledged for their notable contributions to the project: Elders Clement Afedi (Presiding Elder), Worthford Ayirebi (Kwabeng District, Suhum Area), Benjamin Akpariba (Prestea District, Bogoso Area), Stephen Nyarko (La, Accra), Eric Kofi Sam (Odorkor Area, Accra), and Moses K. Nyamekye (Gwira Banso District, Axim Area).
Others include Mr Samuel and Mrs Gifty Adu Darko (Kaneshie, Accra), Mr David Kojo Asiedu (Kwanyako), Mr Peter Biadjoe Cudjoe (Tarkwa), Mr Desmond Blay (Wassa Damang), Mr Kenneth and Mrs Abigail Ali, and Ms Salina Orsuan (Gwira Banso District, Axim Area).
The district also paid special tribute to Apostle Eric Nyamkye (Chairman) and the Executive Council; Apostle Derek and Mrs Elizabeth Kwaning Mireku (Retired); Pastor Adjei-Nimako Darkwa, Area Head; the Pastorate of the Area; and the Kwanyako District Presbytery, for their invaluable support towards the completion of the project.
