A glorious service was held on Sunday, June 30, 2019, by the Michel Camp District of The Church of Pentecost to dedicate the newly-constructed church building of Goshen Assembly after twelve years.

The 772-seating capacity auditorium has a conference room, offices, washrooms, and a spacious car park. The building which was constructed at a total cost of GHC 674,426.56 was financed through Area grants as well as contributions from members and some benevolent individuals.

The building was dedicated by the General Secretary, Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi, with assistance from the Ashaiman Area Head, Apostle Patrick Kingsley Ennin and the District Minister, Pastor Lawrence Kwaku Affum.

Present at the event were: Mrs. Rose Danso Kumi-Larbi (Wife of the General Secretary), Mrs Grace Emelia Ennin (Wife of the Area Head) as well as the area pastorate and their wives.  Also in attendance were: Nii Teye Kojo Amankwah Sune I (Chief of Gbetsile) and other delegates from the Gbetsile Traditional Council.

Delivering the sermon on the topic “The Rules of Conduct For Members of the Church” at the service,  Apostle Kumi-Larbi explained that the church is not just a building or mere social institution but a family of believers being trained and equipped to attain the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.

He further touched on some of the rules of conduct or guidelines in the Ministerial Handbook of the Church that is intended to aid believers in their walk with God so as to be worthy of their calling as children of God.

The first rule of conduct for members of the Church the General Secretary mentioned was personal daily devotion. He said that it is expected of every Christians to set aside a period daily for personal quiet time in prayer and meditation on the word of God. “As Christians, we must study the Bible diligently and pray every day,” he reiterated.

He also advised members of the church to adequately prepare themselves spiritually before entering to the House of God. He noted that they must always be prepared to receive Him, be in their seat in good time before commencement of service and to participate fully in every aspect of the service.

Apostle Kumi-Larbi also encouraged members to endeavour raise up their children and other members of their household in the fear of the Lord. To do this, he urged them to always bring them along to church meetings and supervise and monitor their active participation of their children in church activities especially in activities and meetings of the Children and Youth ministries.

The General Secretary also advised church members to demonstrate genuine love and affection towards each other. He noted that since the Church is our Spiritual home of every believer, they must foster healthy relations with other members of the Church and be concerned about their general wellbeing. He also cautioned church members to refrain from publicly speaking against the Church and their leaders. Instead, he advised them to draw close to their ministers and seek clarifications on concerns they may have.

The Goshen Assembly was created by the then Michel Camp District Minister, Pastor A.N.Y. Kumi-Larbi (now Apostle and General Secretary). The foundation stone for the building was laid by the then Ashaiman Area Head, Apostle Nene Aholu Ofoe Amegatcher (now retired) on April 14, 2013 during the tenure of Pastor Kwabena Adjei Danso (now retired) with Elder Daniel Abayateye Agbeko as Presiding Elder. After taking over administrative oversight of the District, Pastor Lawrence Kwaku Affum, in consultation with the Area Head, Apostle P. K. Ennin, supervised ongoing works on the project to its successful completion.
