The General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, has emphasised that for believers, death is not the end of life, but rather a home call to reunite with the Father.

“When you die in Christ, it is a comma, not a full stop to life, because you will continue in the next life,” he stated.

Apostle Obuobi made these remarks during the Gospel Sunday service at the Bethel Assembly auditorium in New Juaben. The service also served as a thanksgiving event for the late Elder Emmanuel Kofi Mireku (rtd.).

In his sermon titled “When a Man Dies, Will He Live Again?” and referencing Job 14:4 and John 11:25-26, the General Secretary described death as a mystery as many are unaware of the time of their passing. “The rich die, the poor die, the prominent die, and the humble die. But the essential question remains: When a person dies, will they live again?” he said.

Apostle Obuobi addressed common questions people have about death, including: What happens after death? Where will a person go when they die? Does death signify the end of life? Unfortunately, no one returns from death to provide answers. However, one truth is certain: death is inevitable.

Referencing Job 14:1-2, he highlighted that the days of man are few and full of trouble, fleeting like a shadow. Yet, he added that these days are ordained by God.

While the specifics of what happens after death remain uncertain, Jesus provided a clear answer in John 11:25-26 when he visited Mary and Martha after the death of Lazarus: “I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me, though they die, shall live.”

Apostle Obuobi further explained that the nature of one’s death—whether by accident, drowning, illness, or other means—does not matter. What is vital is that those who believe in Jesus will live again.

Referring to 1 Corinthians 15:51-53, he emphasized that Jesus is the antidote to death. When the trumpet sounds, “we who are sown perishable will rise imperishable, and we will receive glorified bodies at the resurrection.”

He pointed out that the death and resurrection of Jesus offer undeniable proof that the righteous will live again. Jesus’ victory over death is further affirmed in 2 Corinthians 4:14, where it is written, “We know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus.”

Additionally, the fact that Jesus holds power over death, as stated in 2 Timothy 1:10, serves as further evidence of the righteous’ resurrection.

Apostle Obuobi also noted that Jesus destroyed the one who has the power of death, affirming the promise of eternal life for believers.

However, he stressed that the key condition for living again is faith in Jesus Christ. Only those who accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour will rise in glory.

He, therefore, urged all attendees who have not yet accepted Christ to do so, so that they may triumph over death and experience the promise of eternal life.
