The Dawhenya District of The Church of Pentecost, under the leadership of District Pastor Bright Amankwah, undertook a life-impacting outreach to the Akuse Prison on Saturday, August 8, 2025. The visit, spearheaded by the District Prisons Ministry in collaboration with the Women’s Ministry, featured a donation of essential items, a medical screening exercise, and a powerful evangelistic service, which resulted in the salvation of seven inmates.

The church delegation, made up of 25 members, was warmly received by the prison administration. As part of the visit, the team donated food items, sanitary products, and medical supplies to support the welfare of the inmates. The donated items included:100 bags of sachet water, 10 boxes of sanitary pads, Anti-malaria drugs for 200 inmates, 50 gallons of liquid soap and parazone, Several bags of maize, gari, and beans. The total value of the donation was estimated at GH₵ 31,000.00.

Following the donation, a church service was held within the prison yard. The service was led by Elder Cephas Asamani, the Dawhenya District Prisons Ministry Coordinator, with scripture reading taken from Jeremiah 29:11, emphasizing God’s plans of hope and a future for all, regardless of their circumstances. The inmates actively participated in the worship and ministration, with many visibly moved by the message. By the end of the service, seven inmates surrendered their lives to Christ.

After the service, counseling sessions were conducted for inmates who desired spiritual or emotional support.

In addition, a comprehensive medical outreach was conducted, during which 356 inmates were screened for sugar levels, hemoglobin levels, and malaria. The exercise was facilitated by a team of four medical professionals who offered free consultations and administered treatment where needed.

The visit served as both a humanitarian gesture and a demonstration of the church’s commitment to holistic ministry; addressing physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. It also reaffirmed the Church’s mandate to reach out to the marginalized and forgotten in society, bringing the message of Christ’s love and redemption.
