The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has called on ministry leaders to collaborate to win more souls for Christ.
He said that evangelism is the core of the church and that every effort should be made to involve all the members in the church’s soul-winning drive.
Apostle Nyamekye said this at the National Evangelism Coordinating Team Assessment Meeting held on Tuesday, March 10, 2020, at the Headquarters in Accra.
Reading from Matthew 28:18-20 (the Great Commission), the Chairman called on the members of the evangelism coordinating team to intensify efforts at winning the unsaved for Christ.
He stressed the need to have life in the ministries so that they can be effective in soul winning aside their normal monthly meetings.
According to him, the ministry level is the area of training and equipping the members of the church for effective ministry.
He indicated that the real ministry of the Great Commission takes place outside the church walls, and that the church is a place for teaching and equipping the members to take up the core mandate of soul winning.
The Chairman further explained that the Great Commission does not end by bringing souls to church, but rather feeding them with the Word to grow into maturity for them to become disciples of Christ.
For the ministries to be effective in soul winning, the Chairman charged them to use a lot of strategies to run their activities and programmes to meet the needs of the members.
This, he said, includes putting systems in place to mobilise their members for meetings, creating smaller groups and appointing and training leaders to handle them, among others.
The National Evangelism Coordinating Team is one of the initiatives under the Vision 2023 of ‘Possessing the Nations’ and is headed by the Chairman of the church with the Ministry Directors and their National Executive Committee Members as members. It coordinates and assesses all evangelism activities in the church.
The Evangelism Coordinating Teams are replicated at the National, Area, District and Local levels with the National/Area Heads, District Ministers and Presiding Elders as the Coordinators.
The meeting was attended by the Director of the Evangelism Ministry, Apostle Dr Amos Jimmy Markin, his deputy, Pastor Shadrach Ohene-Asa Otu and Members of the National Executive Committee; the Women’s Director, Mrs. Grace Lucy Yeboah-Asuamah and her deputy, Mrs. Margaret Osei; the Pentecost Men’s Ministry (PEMEM) Director, Apostle Emmanuel Ofei Ankra-Badu and his deputy, Elder Dr. Ebenezer Asamoah Nyarkoh; the Youth Director, Pastor Ebenezer Hagan, and the Deputy Children’s Director, Elder Prof. William Otoo Ellis.
Also present were the National Coordinators for the new ministry interventions – the Home and Urban Missions (HUM), Pastor Emmanuel Agyei Kwafo and the Ministry to Persons With Disabilities (MPWDs), Probationary Overseer Alexander Nyame.
