The Director of the Children’s Ministry of The Church of Pentecost, Pastor Samuel Avornyo, on Saturday, March 15, 2025, launched the ‘Children in Creation Care’ campaign.

The initiative is part of the ministry’s 2028 Strategic Plan, which aims to Win, Wean, and Unleash godly children to transform their world.

The event, held at Elmina Central Assembly in the Elmina Area, gathered nearly 2,000 children, children’s workers, and ministers and their wives. Among the notable attendees was Deaconess Prof. Rebecca Dei Mensah, a National Executive Committee Member of the Children’s Ministry.

During the event, children were educated on managing and disposing of plastic waste. Pastor Avornyo indicated that God, the creator and owner of all things, expects everyone, including children, to care for His creation.

In an interview with Pent News, Pastor Avornyo remarked, ‘As a ministry, we believe that while the annual environmental care campaign is beneficial, it is insufficient to tackle the environmental challenges we face as a society. Therefore, we aim to make creation care a lifestyle for the children.’

He expressed optimism that the project would be implemented at all levels. He announced that from now on, every child would be encouraged to plant a tree on their birthday, a measure he hopes will combat the nation’s deforestation issues.

‘Plans are well underway to integrate creation care into the Children’s Ministry curriculum,’ he revealed.

To commemorate the day, a memorial tree was planted.
