Chairman Urges Christians To Commit To Holy Living

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has urged all Christians to live a life worthy of the calling they have received.

Apostle Eric Nyamekye said this on Tuesday, July 23, 2019, during the morning devotion of Staff of the Head Office.

Reading from Ephesians 4, the Chairman indicated that Apostle Paul admonished members of the Ephesian church to live a life of righteousness and holiness by doing what is right and applying the word of God to their everyday lives.

Apostle Eric Nyamekye also noted that Apostle Paul was addressing members of the Ephesians and not the leaders, stressing the call to holy living applies to every believer and not just those called into full-time ministry.

“It is a misconception to think that only ordained ministers have the obligation to walk in holiness; this is because anyone who professes Christ as their Saviour is expected to uphold holiness,” he reiterated.

Reading from 2 Timothy 1:9, Apostle Nyamekye also added that, being a Christian means that the individual has responded to the call of Christ, and as such, has been summoned for His cause. This cause is to walk in a manner worthy of Him who called us, to live like He did.

He expounded that, since believers have the Holy Spirit dwelling in them, they are holy, and for this reason they are to remain true to self by upholding the holiness they have received in Christ.

“As a Christian, to live a holy life is nothing extraordinary; it is to be who you really are. You have already been made holy, this is why the Holy Spirit is residing in you. Your duty now is to walk (live) in holiness daily,” he stressed.

The Chairman also advised Christians to make conscious efforts to live self-controlled lives, saying that: “we must not attempt to remove the speck in the eyes of others while we overlook the plank in ours. As Christians we should make a conscious effort to control our own bodies in holiness and honour.”

He concluded by saying that the call to be holy is to grow to become like Christ.  He explained that every Christian begins the Christian journey as a child, however, as they learn to obey and walk in the principles of Christ, they begin to grow to become like Christ in every respect.

The Chairman, therefore, challenged all Christians to endeavour to grow to be like Christ because that is the fullness of the call to holiness and the entirety of Christianity.
