The Downtown-Ofaakor Area Pentecost Men’s Ministry (PEMEM) and the Schools Outreach Ministry (SOM) have jointly donated 20 dual desks to some public schools in the area.

As part of activities marking the International Day of the Boy Child Education, PEMEM and SOM organised a mass outreach programme on May 16, 2025, engaging primary and junior high schools within the catchment area.

One of these educational engagements took place at Obinnimda D/A Basic School, where the District Minister of Abamkrom District, Pastor Stephen Danso, delivered a talk on the theme, ‘Unleashing the Boy Child through Holistic Development.’ He encouraged students to remain consistent in their school attendance and studies while urging them to avoid negative influences and bad habits.

On May 20, 2025, a delegation from PEMEM and SOM followed up on the outreach by donating 20 dual desks to two basic schools in the community. HUM Impacts New Takoradi Community With PENT5000 Project

The Takoradi Sector of the Home and Urban Missions (HUM) of The Church of Pentecost has held a life-changing PENT5000 outreach in New Takoradi.

The event, which took place on Saturday, May 17, 2025, yielded 80 new converts, with 61 being baptised in water, marking a significant spiritual harvest.

The initiative focused on reaching vulnerable and marginalised children in the slums and coastal areas of New Takoradi. Over 800 children received nutritious, hygienic meals to support their physical and psychological well-being.

In addition to the feeding programme, three transformative activities were introduced to further benefit the community, namely free National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) card registration, free water distribution, and a football tournament.

The free NHIS registration was provided for children and adults across the four sub-communities of New Takoradi. A total of 50 new individuals were enrolled, while 188expired cards were renewed, ensuring continued access to healthcare.

The free water also benefited more than 70 households, with families bringing various containers to collect the supply, while teens from Takoradi, Apremdo, and Air Force clubs joined their New Takoradi peers in an exhilarating competition in the Under-15 football tournament. At the end of the contest, New Takoradi emerged as the champions.

Parents, children, and other community members present expressed their gratitude to God and The Church of Pentecost for the timely interventions. Many adults revealed that their NHIS cards had expired, but frequent long queues discouraged them from renewing. Most children in the area lacked NHIS coverage, with some having lost their cards. This free registration brought overwhelming joy to the community.

The HUM Takoradi Sector Pastor, Kwaku Kwantwi, and his wife, Sarah, expressed their gratitude to God for the opportunity to serve the vulnerable despite the heavy downpour. They also extended appreciation to Apostle Sylvester Arhin (Coordinator for Western and Western North Regions) and his wife, Regina, for their support and guidance, as well as the HUM National Coordinator, Apostle Emmanuel Agyei Kwafo, and his team for their leadership in advancing the PENT5000 vision.

The event was heavily financed and supported by Friends of HUM in Takoradi Area, alongside Takoradi Sector Working Team members, New Takoradi District, New Site District and Adientem District.

Among those present were Pastor Solomon and Mrs Lydia Ashaley Djani (New Takoradi District Minister), Pastor Abraham and Mrs Gladys Havor (Takoradi Area HUM Coordinator), Overseer Emmanuel and Mrs Dorcas Oduro (District Minister, Ellobankata), among others.

Fasting & Prayer Tune Christians To God’s Frequency — Pastor Adubofourh Asiedu web

Fasting & Prayer Tune Christians To God’s Frequency — Pastor Adubofourh Asiedu

Pastor Maxwell Adubofourh Asiedu, the Yennyawoso District Minister of The Church of Pentecost, has underscored the significance of fasting and prayer in helping believers connect with God in their spiritual journey.

“The more you fast and pray, the more you attune yourself to the frequency of God,” he remarked.

Pastor Adubofourh made this statement during a service with members of Grace Assembly on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, as part of the Church’s ongoing 14-day fasting and prayer programme.

The leadership of The Church of Pentecost has declared a global 14-day peroid of fasting and prayer, dubbed ‘Pentecost Week,’ under the theme “Experiencing the Unleashed Power of the Holy Spirit,” (Acts 2:32-33). This fortnight-long event, which began on Monday, May 26, 2025, is set to conclude on Sunday, June 8, 2025.

In his discussion on “Fasting,” Pastor Adubofourh explained that fasting is the act of abstaining from food and drink for a period of time. He referenced several biblical figures who engaged in fasting and prayer, emphasising its transformative power in achieving breakthroughs.

“Breakthroughs are typically received by those who commit themselves to fasting and prayer because these practices are catalysts for breakthroughs,” he affirmed, referencing Matthew 17:21.

The clergyman also described various types of fasting, including partial, absolute, full, selective, and cooperate fasting.

On the reasons Christians fast, Pastor Maxwell Adubofourh Asiedu noted that believers fast when facing God’s judgement (Psalm 51:1ff), to restore their broken relationship with Christ, and to intercede for others.

“We fast in response to personal challenges, during spiritual warfare, or when confronted with imminent dangers,” he added. He urged the congregation to cultivate a lifestyle of fasting and prayer, cautioning that, “a church that neglects fasting and prayer is a weak church.”

The meeting aimed to strengthen the Prisons Service’s ties with the church and to discuss ongoing and future collaborations between the two institutions.

Mrs Baffoe-Bonnie expressed her appreciation for the church’s involvement in her induction ceremony and the prayers offered on her behalf. She also shared a personal connection with The Church of Pentecost.

Highlighting the church’s contributions, Mrs. Baffoe-Bonnie stated: ‘The Church of Pentecost has been a pillar of support for the Ghana Prisons Service. The church’s commitment to improving the lives of inmates is commendable.’

Mrs Baffoe-Bonnie also discussed innovative rehabilitation strategies that her administration intends to roll out with the support of the church.

In response, Apostle Eric Nyamekye expressed his appreciation for the visit and reiterated the church’s commitment to supporting the Ghana Prisons Service. He emphasised the church’s mandate to contribute to national development.

‘Our inspiration is drawn from Hebrews 13:3, which admonishes us to remember those in prison as if we were together with them. We are not just constructing buildings; we are investing in lives,’ he stated.

Apostle Nyamekye further stated: ‘We are committed to holistic rehabilitation, encompassing spiritual salvation, education, and overall well-being of inmates.’

Apostle Professor Agyapong Kodua, Vice Chancellor of Pentecost University, also addressed the gathering, stressing the importance of transformative education that the church seeks to undertake in the prisons. He outlined four key dimensions of the university’s educational initiatives: moral formation, national commitment, pastoral counselling, and skill development.

‘Our ultimate aim is to help inmates come out of prison transformed and ready to contribute positively to society,’ Apostle Professor Kodua emphasised.

Apostle Nyamekye Challenges Believers to Seek Eternal Purpose web

Apostle Nyamekye Challenges Believers to Seek Eternal Purpose

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has underscored the need for spiritual transformation in today’s world, urging believers to embrace a life centred on Christ by moving beyond material pursuits to attain eternal significance.

‘A new life is not about money, jobs, houses, or cars,’ Apostle Nyamekye stated. ‘It is the life of God in man—eternal life that begins when we believe in Jesus Christ.’

He said this on Sunday, May 25, 2025, during a sermon he presented titled: ‘The World Needs a New Life,’ at the Merry Villas District in the La Area of the church.

Referencing John 14:6, he highlighted that true life is found in Christ alone. He further explained that without Christ, individuals are prone to immoral behaviours, as outlined in Galatians 5:19.

He stated: ‘Without Christ, you cannot bear good fruits; the fruits of the Spirit.’

Drawing from 2 Corinthians 4:10-11, Apostle Nyamekye indicated that the life of Christ should be evident in every aspect of a believer’s life, saying, ‘Our worldly body will perish, but the life of Christ in us should be revealed in our speech and conduct so that others may come to know Him.’

He stressed the importance of preaching the message of new life systematically, citing 1 John 5:12 and John 20:31. According to him, there are two kinds of people in this world: children of God and the others, revealing that if a person dies in their sin, there is no repentance for them.

Apostle Nyamekye also highlighted the significance of Gospel Sundays, encouraging believers to share their testimonies and preach the gospel as if addressing those outside the church.

‘We are reminded to preach the gospel and tell of the salvation message of Christ; how you have been saved from your old life into a new one,’ he noted.

He called on church leaders to equip members with the necessary tools to evangelise effectively. He bemoaned that most Christians do not know how to bring people to Christ. ‘As leaders, we should make intentional efforts to teach our members how to win souls,’ he advised.

Concluding his message, Apostle Nyamekye challenged believers to make soul-winning a personal mission, saying, ‘We must make it a habit to bring at least one soul to Christ.’

Be Yielded to the Holy Spirit, the Life of the Church – Apostle Lawrence Oduro-Nyarko web

Be Yielded to the Holy Spirit – Apostle Lawrence Oduro-Nyarko

The Elmina Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Lawrence Oduro-Nyarko, has urged all Christians to be fully yielded to the directives of the Holy Spirit.

Speaking on the topic “The Holy Spirit, the Life of the Church”, he emphasised the importance of total dependence on the Holy Spirit in both church administration and personal life. He noted that the Holy Spirit does not require assistance from any other power, as He carries immense power in Himself—power that is the strength and life of the Church.

Apostle Oduro-Nyarko made this clarion call during a meeting with all officers in the Area on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at the Elmina Central Assembly.

Drawing from Ezekiel 47:1-12 and Acts 1:8, he explained that just as the Spirit of the Lord took the prophet Ezekiel to a stream—which symbolised the Holy Spirit—and made him stand in it at varying depths, Christians must likewise seek to deepen their relationship with the Holy Spirit.

He added that there are levels of infilling of the Holy Spirit, and believers must yearn to be filled to the brim, rather than remain complacent at the shallow or surface level. This deeper infilling, he explained, is achievable through consistent fasting and prayer.

“The Holy Spirit brings healing, fruitfulness, freshness, and power, among others, to those who yield to Him,” he emphasised.

The meeting also marked the launch of the Pentecost Week Celebration, during which the leadership of the Church has declared a 14-day global fasting and prayer programme for all members.

Apostle Oduro-Nyarko encouraged all officers and members in the Area to participate actively in this spiritual exercise, believing that through it, God would speak and work miraculously in their lives.

He concluded with a solemn warning that any church which sidelines the Holy Spirit or fails to involve Him in its operations and administration is destined for failure.

The Area Head also used the occasion to brief all presbyters in the Area on key decisions made during the 47th General Council Meetings held at the Pentecost Convention Centre, Gomoa Fetteh, from April 30 to May 2, 2025.

The meeting brought together all ministers and their wives, executive members, ministry leaders, and officers within the Area.
